Everybody's aware that the Bible was thrown together over the ages with some books going in and other books being tossed out, right?

Wow, does anyone else think it's interesting that some Bible lovers don't know much about the history of how it was assembled.

If you genuinely love the Bible, you should at least read some about its history. Here's a start:

the fact that my church did choose which writings made it into the Bible, under the guidance of God, is a confirming sign of its divine origin and inspiration. so I do trust it.

Resis: Not quite correct. The Bible, more correctly termed Holy Bible, is a collection of writings inspired by God ( not by the private interpretations or ideas of humans). This is why the Holy Bible is called "Holy". The Hebrew or Jewish Scholars down, through the ages had preserved the overall accuracy of the Old Testament of the Bible for the most part. Meanwhile, the New Testament of the same Book is a collection of eye-witness accounts and epistles or letters penned by the Apostles. Many attempts were made to pervert or add onto the Bible through the ages. Biblical Scholars are aware of the various changes and attempts by perpetrators to add-on to the bible. The Dead Sea Scrolls found in 1947, hidden inside a cave, in the Middle-East by a Shepherd boy, fully collaborate the writings of the Old Testament. The New Testament had attempts too, to change it by a group of people called Gnostics (meaning "we know"), in the early Century of the church. The Apostle John (in First, Second and Third books or letters of John, in the Bible were penned to combat these attempts. God has ensured that the Holy Bible is available to the world by giving people the inspiration to invent the technology to succeed at this objective. Therefore, the Gospel is readily available to all those God is supplying it to. The harvest is great - but the labourers are few !!!

No books were ever tossed out, they just werent put in. The early Christians knew what other religions were around at the times. So they could very easily recognise a forgery. A lot of pagen religions tried to combine Christianity and their gods, the early christians smelled out the forgery and didnt put the books in the bible. So the books that are in the bible were authenticated by the early christians as valid. We can trust them. Any other books that are found are forgeries, IE the revelation of peter, the gosple of Judas. If they were authentic, then God would not have hid them from us for nearly 2000 years.

Your statement is false. You need to do a little more research on the canonization of the Bible, especially the New Testament, before making such claims. Where did you get that idea from, "The DaVinci Code". Do not believe everything you hear, instead do the research yourself and may God lead you to the truth.

"Woe unto them that are wise in their OWN eyes, and prudent in their own sight". (Isa. 5:21)

Do you think we ought to believe the Bible or your foolish oipinions?

"...if they speak not according to this Word it is because there is no light in them".(Isa.8:19)"

..."Evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceived and being deceived". (II Tim. 3:13)

You sound very unstable and easily led astray....apparently wrestling the Scriptures to your own destruction. "... They that are unlearned and unstable do wrestle, as they do other Scriptures, to their own destruction". (II Peter 3:16)
