Call the Texas Department of Corrections, or go to there website, if they have one--some still don't.
You will need to know his exact date of birth. if you don't have his booking number. Some states will only give release dates of RECENTLY RELEASED people.

Go to this website: http://168.51.178.33/webapp/TDCJ/index2.htm
Follow the directions and it will tell you if he is still incarcerated. It will give you his TDCJ (Texas Department of Criminal Justice)#, his projected release date, and what Unit his is currently at.
If you do not find him that way, then he is no longer incarcerated. So use the following methods:
Requests by telephone
The following offices are open 8am-5pm, Monday-Friday. Call the following numbers to find out an offender's status/location:
Offender Parole Status Line -- Austin, 512-406-5202, or Huntsville, 936-291-2106. MUST have TDCJ or SID #.
Offender Locator/General Information Line -- Huntsville, 936-295-6371, or 800-535-0283.
*NOTE: If you do not know the offender's TDCJ or SID number you MUST provide EXACT date of birth of offender for telephone requests.
I know this works because I had a brother in TDCJ and this is how I was able to keep up with his parole dates.

I don't know. Prisoners are usually a lot easier to find BEFORE they get released. Once they are out they tend to go under the radar of the authorities.

I have to do this. All you need to do is go to www.tdcj.state.tx.us to get the information. The web sight will tell you to email someone and request the information and it seems like it takes them about a week to get back with you.

this website allows you to search for an inmate by first and last name. if you don't get any luck, try searching for the facility's website. They may have an inmate locator on it as well.
