This is your first wedding - so enjoy it. What to wear? Not a sundress. Get a special dress, and get it in any color you wish. Once upon a time, the only brides who wore white were virgins. That's long since gone by the boards, and for your first wedding you may wear white, off-white or whatever you please. As for shoes, get something that goes well with the dress. If you have a daytime-length dress, wear pretty heels. If you have a formal gown (and you can wear a long gown to a small ceremony) wear whatever is comfortable.
This is your day, girl, so do whatever makes you happy.
Congratulations to you, and I hope you have a long and happy mariage.

Cream or a light pastel would be pretty and appropriate. A sundress would be fine if you have a nice little jacket or short capelet to wear over it during the ceremony and could be removed for the reception after. Low heeled sandals in a complementing or matching color would be lovely. Make sure whatever shoes you choose are comfortable! Don't wait until the big day to wear them Wear them around the house to "break them in" for a few days. Also, whatever style dress you choose, make sure you have appropriate foundation garments. There is little worse (in my opinion) than straps or lines showing through a pretty outfit!

I think your sundress will be very nice. How about some pretty sandals?
The reason for wearing white was that Victorians wanted to show they were so rich, they could afford a wedding dress that would never be worn again because it couldn't be washed. Contemporary Westerners tacked the "virgin" thing on because they wanted something to keep young women in check.

Ditto. i just got married after 9 years.
we have two kids.
I got married in a very pretty form fitting black dress the was just below the knee.. its your standard sexy black dress.
But.. i wore that color b/c i got married on friday the 13th.
I think you should find a form fiting just below the knee but not to the floor length white or beige dress. Where whatever shoes look good with the dress. whatever you feel pretty in is all that matters.

i think that you should wear whatever makes you both happy. if it's warm by all means wear the sundress and a cute pair of sandals.
i wore a cream colored gauzy dress and sandals, my husband wore jeans and and a white chamois shirt (he looked great).
we've been married for thirty years, so you see what's in your heart is more important then what you're wearing.
i hope you have much happiness in your life.

If you want to wear a sundress, flowers in your hair, and be barefoot on the beach in the surf when you get married that's your business. As long as you and your soon-to-be husband are happy with the arrangements, who cares. Congratulations on getting married, I hope you two are happy and I honestly hope it works out for you.

Anything goes, nowadays. And about time. For fashion help, try the sales ladies at wedding dress shops. That's what they're there for. If shopping elsewhere, many bigger dept. stores have in store "shoppers" who can help you w/ everything. Just be happy and comfortable in your choices.
Congratulations and best wishes.

I don't think a sundress is corny - unless of course the weather is hideous. As far as color and shoes, choose something that makes you feel beautiful and sexy and never mind what other people think. ( except your man, try to choose something he will like, too)

The dress is lovely. This is YOUR wedding. So long as you and your mate both like it, thats all that matters. The marriage requires more planning than the wedding. I wish you all the best.
