It's always before tax.

In most cases, I wouldn't give them either. If they have a legitimate reason to know, they probably need Gross Income (before tax).

It depends on why they are asking you. In most cases it would be the before taxes, but it depends on what they want to know for.

you need to give them the Before tax, ie gross. That's what you earned. Tax is just part of your bills like rent, utilities etc.

Why should you tell them what your income is, unless your accountant is doing the asking? That's very private information, as far as I'm concerned, and not something I would tell anybody.

You will have to tell them the amount that you have on line 38 of your 1040.

yes your annual incom is you gross thats before taxes it sounds good but the net is what you spend.............
