I received additional tax information from my university regarding tuition payments that should be deductable. How/when can I file a 1040X so I can get more of a refund, after I have already filed my 1040 for 2006?

You attach the original return and prepare a new return showing the additional deductions. The 1040X summarizes the changes and the increased amount to be refunded. You may file it at any time up to April 15th 2009.

You should only file the 1040X after your original 1040 has been received and processed.
