It's all about lies and money that churches steal from the uninformed minds. Jesus could not run the show alone, the eventors of the NT story and the RCC knew they had to play their composite character Jesus off of another character they invented, the devil. This way you have what is seen as the good against what is thought to be the bad,. The point is that it is a mind game developed by some very intelligent Romans. It is really a scam, a witchcraft if you like.

He has had many names throughout the history of the world,Lucifer means ,`Bearer of Light` which was the name used to describe his position before he rebelled against God,Satan means various things but mostly `Accuser
Basically these are descriptive names of that fallen Angel both before and after his fall from grace.

Lucifer was an Archangel,The Lightbearer and Head Archangel. But when God pronounced that Jesus was to be his second in line to the Kingdom of Heaven,Lucifer led a rebellion of angels against God. It was the Archangel Gabriel who led God's forces against Lucifer and defeated him. As punishment,Lucifer's name was changed to Satan and made those who followed Satan into demons for all time.

Lucifer was the Light bearerthe most beloved and the rebelious angel cast out of Heaven for trying to usurp the throne.

satan was a general term for an obsticle, I forget chapter and verse, but I believe JC once refered to Peter as a satan(small s) and I think the term evolved to mean an obsticle to Heaven

and then you have the Serpent in the garden who tempted Eve at the tree of knowledge.

and lets not forget the Anti-Christ in Revelation

here alon you have 4 'evil ' beings or terms there for, and I think in the human mind it just became easier to ret-con these all into one being

also if Judas was fortold to be the betrayer in scripture, did he have any choice, and if not, was he still a bad guy.

and if Satan/Lucifer/Beelzebub/he-who-shall-not-be-named/whatever is the one who punishes sinners in hell, is he not in a way doing God's work, yes he tempts them into sin in the first place, but they ultimately chose sin over salvation

Lucifer means light. This was his name when he was on Gods side. When he was cast out - he became all of the other names.

But then again, you'd have to believe all this crap first.
