When rain clouds are pushed up into cold air the rain drops form and become heavy enough to be pulled to the ground by gravity.
there should be rain in this earth otherwise there will be a lot of ecological imbalance....and it is v.important because rain is a part of our nature's cycle....

The reason that precipitation falls from the clouds is called the "Bergeron Process."
Here's a quick summary of it:

The equilibrium vapor pressure over water is greater than that over ice and therefore in a cold cloud, the water will be out of vapor pressure equilibrium and will evaporate to reach equilibrium. The ice will condense this vapor and grow into a larger ice crystal.

Eventually this ice crystal will grow large enough to fall. It may even collide with other ice crystals and grow larger still through collision coalescence. The Bergeron Process often results in precipitation.

That's a pretty complicated explanation, so you can find a full simpler explanation at:

Here's a kids' site about rain. I've learned lots of information about all kinds of things by reading the basics on sites meant for people far younger than I am. That's the only way I understood the constellations.

Water evaporates into the atmosphere, and rises, condensing around small particles of salt or dirt called condensation nuclei. As it rises, is forms tiny water droplets which group together to form clouds.
As they group together, water droplets grow bigger, sometimes absorbing other droplets, until the cloud becomes too heavy with droplets and condensation nuclei, turning the cloud greyish. When the droplets are too heavy to be suspended in the air, they fall to Earth's surface in the form of rain, hail, sleet, or snow.
