oil made from peanuts
Peanut oil is an organic oil derived from peanuts, noted to have the slight aroma and taste of its parent legume. In the UK it is marketed as 'Groundnut Oil'.
It is often used in Southeast Asian cuisine much as olive oil is used in the Mediterranean. When mixed with fresh lemon juice and applied on skin, it helps to get rid of acne and blackheads. Peanut oil is appreciated for its high smoke point relative to many other cooking oils. Its major component fatty acids are palmitic acid, oleic acid, and linoleic acid. The oil also contains some 6–8% (total) of arachidic acid, arachidonic acid, behenic acid, lignoceric acid and other fatty acids.
Peanut oil was used as the original source of fuel for the diesel engine.
Peanut oil is most commonly used when frying foods, particularly french fries.
Commercial peanut oil will not cause an allergic reaction because the allergen is a protein, not a fat; however, organic and cold pressed oils will.

It's a good quality vegetable based oil for cooking. It has good qualities for use in deep frying when a large volume of oil is needed, such as in turkey/chicken deep fryers. Some people use it over after straining out cooked meat. Some % is made from peanuts, but probably not 100%.

Twintyger gave you a fantastic answer !!
I just note that Peanut oil is MUCH more expensive that standard Canola, Corn, or Veggie oil.
It DOES add a wonderful taste to fried chicken and many Asian dishes.
It also "smokes" at a lower temp that other oils.
