You can't. Unless you can make God appear before him/her, it's just not possible.

We know that God is real because He has revealed Himself to us in three ways: in creation, in His Word, and in His Son, Jesus Christ.

The most basic proof of God’s existence is simply what He has made. “For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that [unbelievers] are without excuse” (Romans 1:20). “The heavens declare the glory of God / And the firmament sheweth His handiwork” (Psalm 19:1).

If I found a wristwatch in the middle of a field, I would not assume that it just “appeared” out of nowhere or that it had always existed. Based on the watch’s design, I would assume it had a designer. But I see far greater design and precision in the world around us. Our measurement of time is not based on wristwatches, but on God’s handiwork—the regular rotation of the earth (and the radioactive properties of the cesium-133 atom). The universe displays great design, and this argues for a Great Designer.

If I found an encoded message, I would seek out a cryptographer to help break the code. My assumption would be that there is an intelligent sender of the message, someone who created the code. How complex is the DNA “code” that we carry in every cell of our bodies? Does not the complexity and purpose of DNA argue for an Intelligent Writer of the code?

God chooses us, we don't choose him. He will cause those he is calling to hear about him and the Holy Spirit will convict them of sin. Telling a person what Jesus did for us and why he had to do it is all that you can say until that person responds to God through repenting of sin, which is turning away from it and turning to God in humility and contrition for sin and accepts forgiveness for his own sin. Your actions and attitude toward the things that God brings into your life are a witness of Jesus Christ within you also.

edit:

If people turn away from you because you have told them that we are all sinners and that God wants us to be reconciled to him through faith, it isn't something to beat yourself over the head with. It's a natural response to the word of God by unregenerate man and if he is called then the seed has been planted and somewhere down the road he may answer the call. Many are called, but few are chosen. The chosen are faithful even if no one around them listens.

Why would you believe god is real in the first place? I assume you are referring to a christian god? If so you do realize that your entire faith is based on one lie after another. To be brief, because no matter what I say you will still blindly believe what you believe, the old testament is based on a god that moses stole from the Sumerians in order to gain power over the Israelites and start his own society and cult. He was just power hungry because he couldn't be Pharaoh. The new testament is based upon a biblical Jesus that is so far removed from the real historical Jesus that he is unrecognizable. The early Vatican leaders decided what was to be included in the new testament at the council of Nicea and the rest was destroyed. Dogma such as the divinity of Jesus, the virgin birth, and the trinity were created by men and included in Vatican and church dogma, teachings and writing in order for them to justify what they had created, everything and everyone else was destroyed. Your god does not exist.

That's the point...you don't. There is no convincing an individual of the things that pertain to God. You can only tell them. If they then choose not to believe then they have to deal with that themselves. All you have to do is plant the seed.

I Corinthians 3:7 So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

What you want to do is set up a false dilemma...Something like "Look at the complexity of the eye. It could not be an accident. God must be real." Then mention beauty of some sort. Last plead to their emotions, "God loves you so much, can't you believe that?"

One way is to go through the scriptures with them and point out the truth within, helping them to see the fact that God has revealed His salvation(Christ) through the Prophets and by the life of Christ.
Then you could explain how you came to believe as there is a great power in personal witness, and finally let the person come to this truth and faith by their free choice.

I don't know that you CAN convince someone, all you can do is tell them why you believe and live your faith. If they see it in you they may decide that God is real. That is when they can experience God for themselves.

Remember that your role in another's belief is as their informer and prayer supporter. We can't convince someone of something; they convince themselves. My advice is as follows:
1. Pray for the salvation of non-believers.
2. Take every opportunity you can to support non-believers in their search for God.
3. Spell "God" with a capital "G," or else they'll misunderstand to Whom you're referring. The term "God" is a title of deity referring specifically to the one true living God--not to a generic concept of deity or one of many deities (in which case a lower-case "g" would be appropriate).

Give them good evidence from a good source and they will consider believing... However, since there is no good evidence in support of god, and there are mountains of evidence that make his existence completely implausible... yea, good luck with that.

You could do what all other Christians do. Trick him into belief by appealing to his emotions.

Please read my words carefully:
If you see footmark in the sand, you'll say that someone passed from here...
If you see a piece of dog sh*t on the ground, you'll say that a dog passed from here...
So what about the enormous universe, the sky, stars, planets, earth and all the beauty in it, doesn't it lead to that someone made it?!!!

Some people say that everything is created by itself after the big-bang... I won't ask you about what caused the big-bang, but I'll ask you a simple question:
If you take all the letters of the alphabet, multiples of them, and you threw them randomly on the floor. Do you expect (by a chance of one in infinity) to get a poem like shakespear's??!!

Can't you see how organized our universe is, the planets, the eco-system on earth, look even in your own body... Can you control your heart-beat? Can you control your breath while you're sleeping? Who stopped your eye-lashes from growing after reaching a certain length? Who told the baby turtles to move towards the sea and not to the earth after they come out of their eggs? Who taught the bird how to make nests?

My friend, think with your heart and brain. If you're still lost, think about the following:

Do you know how to play safe?
Non-believer's case:
If there's no God and you do all what you want in life, then nothing will happen to you after life. But if there was God and you were mistaken, then you'll blame yourself FOREVER...

Believer's case:
If there's God and I followed His commands in life, then I'll be in Heaven after life FOREVER. But if there was no God and we're mistaken, then nothing bad will happen to us after life...

Now you know how to play-safe, in case you're not convinced?
