I read a lot of Christian responses that say things along the lines of, "Majority rules, most Americans are Christians, so we're right!".

There are more people in China than there are in the United States. Most of them do not believe in your god.

Does majority still rule?

i am christian and i will have to say that i apoligize for the christians who say that mjority wins. i do not believe that and i think it was immature for any belief to say that. but even if christians were the most looked down on religion i know that it is still the right way.

Whoever said that majority rules doesn't understand religion in the right light. Religion is a personal experience and perogative. Me, being a Christian, would continue to be so, even if I were the last Christian on earth. If someone is choosing their beliefs based on what everyone else is believing, then they need to go on a path of enlightenment, by themselves, to find out what THEY believe.

"Majority rules" is a very un-Biblical argument for a Christian to use to support their beliefs. Jesus seemed to think that we would be in a persecuted minority - see Matthew 5:10-12.

I believe that the number of people who believe has little bearing on the rightness of any belief that people can hold.

Truth exists whether the majority of people believe it or not. If the sky is blue, it is blue, whether people say it is green or brown.

Truth is what it is. It is up to all of us to find it out. Popularity has nothing, really, to do with it.

Truth is independent of how many people have knowledge of it. The best way to obtain truth is direct from God, through his prophets, and by experience.

As far as who should direct religious organizations; it seems best for them to be directed by God. If that's not the case, does it really matter who runs them?
