We need Yahoo's help to stop the issue with unfair account suspensions, people reporting posts just because they disagree (not because they are in violation). Will you join me in helping get Yahoo's attention? I posted the attached to Y!A suggestion board. If you agree, and if you support this cause, I ask you to vote for the suggestion. The more votes, the more Yahoo might listen and help us right this wrong! I don't know if it will help, but let's at least make our voices heard! After all, the next person who may be targeted could be YOU!

If you have a minute, please read the attached and please support your R&S friends (and foes!) by voting for this suggestion. We hope to catch the attention of Y!A before even one more person is unfairly suspended.

ignoramus_the_great,
A current example is pangel. Go to her profile, and you'll see that if anyone reports her posts, it is definitely not due to a violation. She is being targeted by mass reporting. She is not the only one, but she is a good example.

DBK,
Perhaps you're right and nothing can or will be done, but at least we can have our say. Sitting idly by and being thankful it isn't me hasn't done any good because our friends are dropping one-by-one...next it could be me, or you, or any of us. So at least we can have our say and speak up about it...even if Yahoo does nothing to help.

Will do.

Well done. It's highly frustrating to see how Yahoo handles all the complaints about these 'report abuse abusers'. So far I have only lost one account, which is just a glitch (is that a word?) compared to many, many others. Too many others.

Markyyy: Firstly; how do you know that these accounts were "unfairly suspended" ? Some suspensions are quite justified because the terms or conditions of YA have been violated. These terms are set to maintain an order of flow where others are not slandered nor libelled. You have to have accountability and responsibility within ones behaviour or chaos will bloom. What this type of "petition" will accom-plish is YA suspending the YA Answers section because of legal repercussions pending from law suits. People can not just take something he or she does not agree with and crucify the person with his or her mouth or computer (in this case). People calling people horrible names, accusations flying, threats, lies, conjecture, and assumptions - to name a few, can not be tolerated. People, who participate in this type of behaviour should have their accounts suspended ! Remember; there are children on here.

If we are to keep this forum free of charge, then there is nothing that we can do. It would cost a lot of money to actually employ people to read over the reported offenses. The reason that this part of Yahoo! remains free, is that it isn't staffed by any more than 5 people. The reported offenses just go to a program that does everything automatically, hence, the random bans and suspensions.

sure thing
i have been reported for unjust reasons,
the last, i questioned 'who loves atheism' which was deleted, yet its accepted when people say a dozen times a day'who loves jesus'
isn't this predudice?
i dont report anyone, even if they make a personal threat, but i'm starting to think that mabe i should, it seems the only way to get YA to something about it is if everyone reporting everyone causes a melt down.

for some reason they dont report me for stuff that can be construed as inflamatory
i think they like to avoid being detected

A few months ago this exact same thing happened to Spooky and quite a few of the other outspoken regulars. We all banded together to try to get it to stop. It didn't stop, and a lot of the regulars left because of it. Some of them are back now with new accounts. The thing that bothers me about it is the slightest thing will get you a violation. I got one the other night for asking for a moment of silence after Kurt Vonnegut died. YA doesn't look into the reason for the violation - you get one complaint, and that form letter hits your inbox. I can't imagine why anyone would do this to Pangel at all. She's such a sweetie. And it's not about points - you can lose your access to your email, too.

Gladly. I have received two. In both case I inquired why one of my questions and one of my comments were deleted and I received no response. At the very least how can I hope to not repeat my erroneous conduct if they won't even explain how or what was violated. I even have started to question if it isn't simply someone on the committee that doesn't share your view so they use their power to try and censure opinions the don't agree with. Again I could be totally wrong. But their silence leaves one scratching their heads wondering. In one incident I corrected someone's spelling to a rascist question. Why is white people kiling their children. I simply wrote why are? My answer was deleted but the rascist question remained. I questioned them but received nothing. Then I posted a question directed to my atheist friends asking them why killing is wrong. I posed this as ofen I hear people saying that Christians accuse them of having no morals. I wanted to give them a chance to show the basis of their morals and if they would withstand scrutiny. This question was removed and again no explanation was offered. I assumed the role of a bike gang member who killed people and had o problem with it. If anyone was offended they didn't indicate it. I have seen alot of crap in here yet I have never reported anyone. When I saw this questin deleted I began to wonder is there really any point coming here. The very few times you get to have some meaningful dialogue and your question is removed.

The suggestion to maybe limit how many reports lvl 1 and 2 may flag a day is a good one.

I have read it and agree to a great extent.
There must be however a way to control abusers.
People who are out and out nasty buggers.
As an Atheist you can pose your opinion. You may not use obscenities against your so called opponents.
Christians may not do so either.
JWs seem to be the ones who move against anyone that disagrees with them.
Islamics also, someone moved against me a few times.
If they are entitled to their opinion, I am entitled to mine.

I have boycotted the questions concerning Islam because of their aggressive reporting.

I'm no paragon of virtue, nor do I expect saintliness of anyone else; however, if I can refrain from reporting people whose vicious ignorance and bigotry make me nauseous, then I figure others can do the same.

So I've put in my vote and I hope it helps everybody.
