My sister has been trying to persuade me to walk with her on Mothers Day, says we do it "just because". That is not good enough for me. I need concrete persuasion. I wear pink on that day. Can you help me to understand why many do this? Thank you

The idea is to raise awareness for breast cancer research. We do it because there isn't a cure and many lives are affected.
Breast cancer affects women and men.
I have personally buried two Aunts in the last 6 months. One left behind two small children.
I pray that no one else has to go through what our family has been through. Cancer in any form is not pretty. It knows no age or gender can strike in the prime of life. Families are torn apart as brothers, mothers, sisters, friends and lovers struggle for life, hoping and praying there is a cure found for them before it is to late. For so many of them there is no cure but they continue to hope.
If you are able to walk please do so for those who can no longer.
