Since this swelling is not causing any pain, it should not be infection, for example abscess.

There can be a lot of exlpanations for this swelling. Has she had it since birth? Then it may have formed during her development before birth.

After birth, this could be a lipoma, which is a harmless growth of fat. Or it could be a cyst.

If it is not really causing pain and any other problem at all, then you can ignore it. But any change in size, colour, shape (irregularity of shape is important), or having pain, should make you consult a doctor.

If it's behind the left ear, I think it's cartilage and part of the ear structure. Check and see if you have the same lump.

It may just be a cyst, i had a cyst in my hand a while ago. I would get it checked out at the doctors just to be on the safe side, mine was on a ligament so they sucked out the jelly stuff inside.

Good Luck xox

It could either be a cyst or a lymph node. I sometimes get a swollen lymph node on my neck or behind my ear if I have a nasty spot on my head (serves me right for scratching it). If you are concerned take her to your gp to get it checked. xx
