The average wedding costs $25,000. However the average wedding does not have 500 guests.
That is a huge wedding.
To go on the cheap scale, a morning wedding, no alcohol--it would still run you I'd say at least 50,000.
Probably more realistically I'd say $100,000 to $125,000--when you are talking evening formal, with food for 500 being at the very least $15,000--knowing that it would mean around 60 tables. So 60 centerpieces and a super long table for all the food which means more floral decorations. Favors for 500. Even if you did something inexpensive, 60 centerpieces would be a few thousand.
So yeah--probably around 100,000 US dollars would be the starting range.

With a wedding this size I am going to take a guess and say you are having a little bit more formal of an event. But we dont know where you are so these prices can chage dramtically! In my area (NY), a seated dinner wedding reception is usually 100 per person without breaking a sweat and can go all the way up to 800 per person. So let's say you do it for 150 per person, that's $75,000. This may or may not include rentals, the venue, wait staff, open bar, champagne toast, cake, etc. So looking at a bare minimum, probabaly 200k but you will still have to be *very* thrifty with your money! If you have a sunday morning event with no alochol and a breakfast buffett, then maybe you can get it down to $50 per person (with the same stipulations as above). But that is still 25k. All in all I would say, don't expect to be able to get away with paying less than 100k for a wedding this size and no less than 200k if you want to make it a night time formal in a major city (like nyc).

500 guests! Sheesh! The average wedding for close to 200 people ranges anywhere from 10 to 20 thousand bucks. I suggest cutting the guest list down just a tad. 500 guests...you're probably looking at a good 40 to 50 thousand when everything is said and done.

500 guests are going to cost you a pretty penny. But basically it all depends on location and food because normally you have to pay per person. The cheapest meal you could probably get per person would be $30 a head, so you figure 30 x 500 = $15,000 and that's just for the food (you also need to calculate the cost of location, decorations, dress, cake, favors, music, photographer and any other things you will be having. My guess is that it would run at least roughly $25,000 - at least !
Good Luck !!!

Before you have a wedding for 500 people think about how you are going to mingle with all of your guests. I am getting married next year and everyone I have talked to has to told me your wedding goes by so fast you don't get to enjoy it. I know someone who had 500 people and they did not even know who was there and who wasn't. Not to mention the cost. I am having 200 people and I can't find anyway to keep it under $10,000. I am making my invites, linen, having no flower arrangements and using candles instead. I am having 1/2 catering which means we are making the other half. So good luck. remember it is only one day. Enjoy it!

Well with a guest list that size, you are looking at a wedding about 45,000 to 60,000 for the entire wedding. That would be just the Chapel, Reception site, your dress, the flowers and all that. But if your on a huge budget then you'd have to cut corners in certan areas that would be about the area of the food, normally you can get a nice buffet for cheeper than it would cost to get something that would be per plate.
Good Luck

Can't you trim the guest list down a bit? At that many, you won't even get to say "hi" to anyone, much less spend any time with them. If you are going to feed them all a dinner, expect to pay at least $20 per person, without alcohol. That adds up to $10,000 for food alone!!! With 500, you are looking at a major bill.

I can't believe how many times this question is asked, and people do not give you any resources what so ever to answer it.
"How much does a wedding cost?"
Well I don't know. Where do you live? How many guests? What type of wedding do you want? Morning? Afternoon? Evening? Do you want a full sit down dinner? Do you want a cocktail hour? Do you want the cheapest way to go?
