I don't know what your friend really understood of it, however...
Doing crunches AND doing cardio will help you get a six pack. If you don't do cardio no amount of crunches will help you (maybe that's what your friend meant).
Also, if you only do crunches but do no other exercises for other abdominal muscles, YES YOUR FRIEND IS RIGHT, you will bulk up the six pack but the rest will be non existant and floppy so you will look bigger.
So when you work your abs be sure to work them all because crunches alone aren't going to help unless your transverse and lateral abs are ALREADY toned up.

Jazzercise is a great way to workout. It works your entire body including your abs so you get an all around workout, not to mention having fun! There is a local TV channel where I live that broadcasts jazzercise videos three times a day. You should check it out or go buy the videos.
BTW- I heard the same thing about the fat staying on your abs while your muscles get bigger. I'm pretty sure that's true so make sure you done some kind of aerobics with your workout.

No that's not true. that someone is an idiot. crunches will help tone your stomach. What they are reffering to is that muscle weighs more than fat, but it sounds like you are toning your body and not weight lifting for muscle.
Excersises. Did you take PE in school? Those excercises still work you know? Put on your favorite fast beat music and do jumping jacks, crunches, squats, leg lifts, etc. It's free, nobody can see you, etc. Also, you don't have to go "running" to lose weight. a nice walk after meals is better for you.

Ok where shall i start.
Fish is one of the best foods you can eat, especially any with omega 3.
Cut down your fat intake and salt.
You can eat as much fruit and veg as you wish.
a small amount of fat is ok, like a piece of chocolate. But steer clear of cakes/pastry savories like pasties. These are certainly not good.
Chicken is one of the best meats you can eat. Cook in the oven with a small amount of water (betteer than roasted) and cover roasting dish.
Moderate exerise is good. Short walk to keep up your circulation. Hope these tips help.let me know how you go on if im your best anwser. Take care

Losing weight is a simple equation: if you burn more calories than you eat, the weight will come off. Start off by estimating how many calories you burn each day using the calorie calculator http://straighthealth.com/pages/tools/ca... This will give you an idea of how many calories to eat. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week. To lose 1 pound per week you need to create a calorie deficit (burn more than you eat) of 500 calories per day. To lose 2 pounds a week, you have to double the deficit to 1000 calories per day. You can achieve this by eating less, exercising more or a combination of both.
