Nice combination!
Use mostly dark purple, with shocks of the bright orange. You only need a bit of bright orange make a beautiful statement!

Try softening the orange with a lil more peachy orange. Still a vivid color just a lil softer orange. Or a bright coral.

If you really want a vivid orange, than use that for the flowers. Vivid orange. You can get Orange Pixie lilies right now rather inexpensively.

Just keep the purple away from such a dark purple that it looks black. You don't want to look Halloweenish. Try a royal purple. Or soften it by using 2 shades of purple, one darker and one a lighter like periwinkle.

Have the bridesmaids in the purple. If they are overweight, dark colors are slimming and so many people do not have the skin tone to pull off orange (especially fair skinned or redheads). Unless it's summer and an outdoor wedding--they will be roasting in a dark color.

Use purple on your tables. Whatever shade of orange you pick on the food tables, gift table, cake table, perhaps sweethearts table. It can be softened by using a sheer overlay on the tables as well. Then you can have a very vivid color.

When are you getting married? You could use more of a yellow-orange. Something that is a nice mix between the 2--kinda a butternut squash color. I think yellow goes nicely with purple. Plus yellow-orange can be vivid or softened--however you want it. That would go pretty with an eggplant or a plum. However that sounds more like fall to me.

You just want to be careful you aren't picking 2 bold colors--looking more like a homecoming instead of a wedding. Unless of course you picked your colors b/c they are the school colors.

There are a lot of gorgeous orange flowers though--but fewer (and much more expensive) dark purple flowers. Tons of more "lavender" but not so many in dark purple.

Purple and orange are two colors that you really have to know how to coordinate. Purple signifies mourning of the dead in my catholic religion, and bright orange signifies one of the colors of Holloween. I would like so see lavender and peach instead, but it is your decision. It is your wedding. If you are getting married this summer, there are so many beautiful colors to choose from. How about aqua and peach, or lavender and aqua? But if you insist on purple and orange, then see how the colors go together. Good Luck

A deep plum color would look pretty with a burnt orange. Try throwing in a softer color such as white, cream, or a pale green.
