A 2 year college will only leave you with an associates degree. There aren't a lot of jobs that you can do with only an associates degree (thought its better than just a high school diploma). At a four year college you'll have the opportunity to earn a bachelors degree. There are also differences between a four year college and a university. Universities have a research component that colleges tend to have (universities are made up of a variety of colleges--College of Engineering, College of Letters and Sciences, College of Education, are examples. You'll have a larger variety of majors to choose from at a university.
One way to help you decide what is right for you is to go to your school counselor and have them give you an aptitude test. That will narrow down your interests and suggest areas of study that would fit well with your skills and interests.

do you know what you want to do? if you do go for it hardcore, unless money is an issue, then go to a 2 year, get GE out of the way and then transfer, if its not that muco of an issue, go to a 4 year, if you have no clue, then dont go to a 4 year college, it will be a waste of money, even if money is not an issue its still not a good idea, by going to a 2 year you can decide a little later, then when you transfer, transfer to a 4 year directly into the major you chose, if you go to a four year, and decide on an impacted major , there maybe a 2 year waiting list, thats 2 years after you decide, so add 2 years to what it takes you to decide. At a 2 year you can decide almost last second then transfer directly to a four year college in your desried major, colleges give transfer students priority over people who change their major. Double check all this with your school counciler. If you do not know what you want to do , i strongly suggest going to a career center, your school should have one, if you are in high school, if you already graduated then you may have to pay for the services unles you enrol in a school, or go to your old high school and ask your counsilers advice, you never know, good luck, I did things completely wrong, and im still in college after 10 years, i finally decided on a major and had to wait for a long waitlist.

I guess it depends a little bit on what you want to study. Some majors you can do just fine completing from a 2 year school. However, at a 4 year college you have access to a lot more choices in academics and other resources (like career assistance, sports, social events.) If you have the time and the money, def. go to a 4 year college. I will say if you want to study business, don't do the 2 yr. route.

just to grant you my experience. I went to a 2 twelve months college for 3 years because of the fact I enjoyed it yet in ordinary terms gained a 2 twelve months degree. it could have been extra advantageous if I went to a 4 twelve months college because of the fact many of the educational someone takes in a 2 twelve months college are actually not transferable credit to the college you circulate to and could lose them and could take different credit to make up for those you have already taken.. I transfered to a college when I gained my AA 2 twelve months degree and had to discover one which could settle for my credit from the school I attended. individually i think of a 4 twelve months college is a miles better determination. you could basically proceed on with the degree credit without having to alter faculties and discover out the adjustments between the colleges after which having to get use to the recent campus. additionally, a BA degree is extra regularly happening than an AA degree in many factors of the international. A 2 twelve months degree is appeared at as no longer incredibly polishing off college be taught.

it depends on what ur studying. i'm an visual arts major and im in a 4yr college. I think in a 4yr college u have 2 take the general education requiements that they require u to take. by taking the gen ed. requirements that takes more time to get out of college, but im not 2 sure about a 2yr college ( if u have to take general ed requirements or not). Like i said it all depends on what u r studying
