We are boyfriend/girlfriend? Is going out the same thing as going out on a date? Do you have to go out first and then ask to be boy/girl friend? This is confusing!!!

Some people will consider themselves being bf/gf after going out on many dates, but if it's the first date then maybe you should ask them out, like to be your gf/bf. Thats what my b/f did we had been "talking" for a couple of weeks and everyone thought we were going out, but when we finally went to the movies he asked me to be his g/f, it makes it sweeter that way

haha, I'm going to assume you're young. I remember being in school and all of this being so confusing.

I think the rule always was that there is a difference in 'dating' and 'going out.' When you are 'dating' that means you are seeing each other, but you can also go out on dates with other people, when you are 'going out' that means you are an exclusive couple....I think. Just trying to refresh my memory of the jr high/hs love drama, lol.

I would say that if you are 'going out' that means you are boyfriend/girlfriend.....but there are grey areas where it can be confusing.

If you're going out on a date then obviously the person likes you, so don't be afraid to ask 'am i your girlfriend/boyfriend.' If they want to be with you, then they'll just laugh it off and it can be a funny inside story of the start of your relationship.

It would be better to know for sure than to be thinking the relationship is different than your partner and getting hurt in the end.

You are not boyfriend/girlfriend until you talk about it and decide that you do not want to date other people.
