Determine whether or not their airway is open. If they are making noise, it's open. Let them cough it out. If they are truly choking, perform the Heimlich maneuver.

i think the Heimlich maneuver is still the ideal move (if he or she can't cough it out) it can be used for conscious and unconscious persons.
