people are so worried about their personal rights, that they forget those rights have to be fought for. They are so quick to judge our Govt. yet very few of them have any education regarding our govt. and even less have read the constitution.
They are so quick to judge our military, but all they really know about the military is the crap they see on tv, and what Hollywood shows them.
What ever you do to receive something you must continue to do to keep it. How do people think those rights were accomplished? They were fought for. By turning your back on your military and not doing your part, you are spitting in the face of the forefathers who did their part, time and time again. Freedom isn't free. If they don't want to serve their own country they are nothing more than parasites. Living off others and only worried about their own self.

1. Because America hasn't been told the whole truth about the current war.

2. Because many women who want to join the military want to be on infantry, and they can't.

3. Because we are not fighting for america. We are fighting for the rights of an other country.

I don't think it is so much a willingness to defend their own country, but rather a perception of when it is really needing defending.
I am a veteran of the Air Force, but I don't believe we have faught a war that really concerned our country's defense since World War II.
Iraq didn't attack us, North Viet Nam didn't attack us, North Korea didn't attack us, etc... And this war on terror is a farce. Terrorist acts should be treated as criminal acts and not as acts of warfare. We have never won a war against an unidentifiable enemy (war on poverty, war on drugs, etc...). Unfortunately, war machines drive big business. Sometimes it is difficult to know who is making the decisions in Washington D.C.

Really. What are we defending the country against right now?

Oh, that's right, terrorists. The ones associated with Saddam Hussein in Iraq. Oh, wait, Bush had "faulty intelligence" about that. Now I wonder why nobody wants to run out and join the military.

Every other country is either helping America (which is basically the same thing with different citizens), a non-democratic nation, a currently warring nation, an uninhibited island, or a power hungry nation that has little or no care about the welfare of its average citizens.

Take your pick.

Who cares about defending a "country"? The only time you should put your life on the line is to defend the lives of the ones you loved. That wasn't followed in our very first war and few since.

I put my time in in the military but wouldn't advise anyone to join now as long as Bush is still in office.

Think of what generation the people that are now old enough to serve were born from and you can answer your own question. Most of us who are now old enough to serve now have parents that were old enough to serve during Vietnam. I think that says it all. My hubby serves this country as a member of the US Army, even though his father was a protesting draft dodger in Vietnam though. My brother is a Marine, carrying on our family tradition of military service too.
Maybe people now a days are just cowards and selfish to boot. I am not sure. I am proud of my family for serving and protecting our country. My Grandfather was a Sgt in WWII, my father was a Pvt. in Vietnam, my mom was a career Air Force Major(retired 2 years ago) and my daughter wants to be in the Army just like daddy. I would have served if not for a heart condition that wouldn't allow me to enlist.

What America really needs to be defended from are idiots like you.

Just leave.

You really don't belong here and you're making a mess of it.

Do you mean fight for oil and big business, who get profits, while I try to eke out an existence? What are they fighting for? Iraq didn't bomb us, or start a war on American soil. Most Iraqi's that are killed are innocent people, why would I want to kill them?
