There are many ways that you can thank them.

When my brother (Viet Nam vet) was in the service & I was a teenager, I used to bake cookies & send care packages every month
You don't need to be 18 to send supplies/gifts.

We talk every week on the phone but
I still call him every veterans day (he lives in another state) to thank him for serving.
On Memorial Day I also thank the Lord for bringing him safely home.

Thanking our military & supporting our troops every chance I get !
Also helping & supporting their families at home is very important to them.

I do thank the Veterans daily by means of helping each factor they do and constitute. Just a 12 months in the past, we had a memorial carrier for an uncle who used to be KIA/PH in WW II on the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery for the navy. This used to be a uncle who misplaced his lifestyles on the age of 18. We in no way met him, however have a few of his medals and flag in our household. My dad at the side of a few different family have been veterans additionally with a few having over two decades of being within the navy. I am endlessly grateful given that I am surrounded by means of all this greatness and bravado simply so I can reside my lifestyles with such freedom. Thank You and God Bless the entire veterans and others serving within the navy in these days.

You are welcome. I am glad to see that there are younger people supporting our service members and what we do at home and over here.
I volunteered for Iraq 2003-2005 and Afghanistan 2006-2007. There are plans in the works for me to return in 2008. My family has been in the service of our country since the 1600's, I guess you can call it a "Family Tradition"
You can look for "adopt a troop or soldier" on the web or look in on some military groups or throught Yahoo 360 for links to many ways you can send care packages or letters to show your support

As a vet, the words mean alot to the people in the military. It is very hard to be away from home, and hearing all the negitive things being said about the military by various people. To many times the good things are pushed out of the news. One of the best ways to show your feelings for the troops is to become a pen pal. One of the sites that help find suitable pen-pals is http://militarypenpal.tripod.com/.

Good luck, and once again thanks.

A Soldiers Mother's Prayer!

I'm the mother of two American Soldiers. You see me every day going about life as usual -or so it appears.I rub shoulders with you at work. I shop at Wal-Mart and the grocery store.I fill my car at the corner gas station. You might see me anywhere.Don't be deceived:My life has not been "normal" for months.I am the Mother of two American Soldiers.Although I continue the routines of life,I do so with a burdened heart and distracted mind. There are some tell-tale signs of who I am.I'm the one with the frayed yellow ribbon pinned on my clothing. It was fresh and new when my sons first deployed months ago.Even though the war is supposedly over,my sons are in a place where bullets and grenades are still killing are soldiers.I am determined to wear my ribbon until they come home.when you see me wearing that ribbon, please stop & whisper a prayer for them & all the others still there. Please pray for the son or daughter overseas & for the parents waiting for there child to come home! I am a mother of two American Soldiers.....

I want to thank you for your support. I come on Yahoo Answers to use what personal professional knowledge I have to help answer people questions, and it is very rare to see things such as this..it is more often people bashing servicemen and women or the chain of command we follow. It means the world to me for even one person to do what you're doing.
