I have an FD 50mm 1:1.8 canon lens, i have 49mm filters, can i get some kind of step down ring for these? They're 2 small for the lens,- I know if they were bigger there'd be no problem, but is there anything i can do here?!

The new Canon 50mm f/1.8 has a 52mm lens thread. They probably all do. Here's a 52mm to 49mm step down ring:

As Earl pointed out, you might experience vignetting.

I've seen step up rings long ago, but they have a limitation. You start to vignette the image if you cut in too far.

Contact Tiffen Optical and see if they have anything or know of anything.

Probably can't go more than 49 to 52
