If you have the plans for the house, then start by measuring the rooms, and see if they match. Also measure the outside walls. Compare them with the house measurements. I once lived in a house, that had several secret compartments, built in. Allegedly it was used to hide runaway slaves.

If you think there is one I would ask the oldest person familiar with the house, if they don't know check with previous owners... probably wouldn't be on the house plans, most secret rooms or panic rooms aren't on the plans. Good luck
