Because they do not take the time to research their religion. They take the word of what has been told to them by someone else. I believe that if every person in every religion sat down and did the proper research that they would come to the conclusion that Christianity is the only religion that has been proven time and time again as factual. Mormons take the word of Joseph Smith as fact and there is not one thing he says that can be proven. The same can be said of Muslims.

Money, that's all it's ever been, from the numerous religious relics that were on display in medieval churches throughout Europe, to the vast financial clout of the Roman Catholic church.

Only fanatics and idiots believe their own religion is the true religion, and it's just an excuse to extort more wealth. The formula is self explanatory, the more flock you entice to your church, the more money you can tap up

Not all do. Some believe truth to exist in all paths. The ones that do believe they are right fall under the human error of believing that if one thing is correct, all comepting theories must necessarily be wrong. This is a false dichotomy and is one of the roots of evil in this world.

That's not necessarily true. It is with monotheistic religions, but the way a polytheistic religion is set up, one HAS to be able to accept other views, while still being strong to their own. It's not a matter of "right" or "wrong" but more along the lines of "this path is right for me, maybe not to another person."

Because of misinterpretation. With Protestantism...everytime someone doesn't agree with the interpretation, they start their own church. So you end up with many religions, so to speak.

Martin Luther, the one who started the Protestant Reformation, said...I tried to get rid of one Pope and I created hundreds.

Thus we have the many branches of Protestantism.
