3 really, really easy things that can be done are:
1. Stop drinking drinks with too many calories in them; sodas, juices, gatorade(way too many calories), etc...
A. If yourson where to drink only water, he would begin losing weight.
2. Stop eating late at night.
A. This one is pretty bad as when you eat late at night, especially right before he goes to sleep, the body is shutting down and will not be burning off those calories.
3. Start feeding him healthy breakfasts.
A. Breakfast truly is the most important meal of the day, it gets the metabolism working early on.

He should walk 2+ miles every day, five days a week. Or ride a bike, or do some other cardio exercizes.
He can take the over the counter herbal supplement called Hoodia Gordoni. This is a mild apetite suppressant. It is not harmful in any way, and it will cost anywhere from 10-60 bux for a months supply, depending on how much he takes. you can buy it at any health food store. It will not remove the food cravings, it will just make them less intense and easier to ignore.
The most effective and absolute healthiest diet he can go on is called 100% raw vegan diet. This means only that you eat only RAW fruits/vegetables/nuts/seeds, and drink only water. Nothing canned, jarred, processed, dehydrated, preserved, etc., no sugar, no sugar substitutes, etc. Only fruits vegetables nuts and seeds in their natural form, and water to drink. You don't have to buy any books, videos, or anything else to go on this diet. Just food from the produce section of your supermarket. But you cannot cheat on this diet at all.

to help kids with diet whole family has to change eating habits. you cant serve everybody stake with fries and give your son steamed veggies and lean meat.
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter your stats and it will tell you how many calories a day you need to maintain your weight. take 300-400calories off that number and that's how much you need to lose weight.
eat 5-6 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones.
5-8 servings of fruit and vegetables a day.
8 glasses of water a day.
4-6 times a week cardio work out for 30-50min plus light weight training.
no junk food, no sodas, no white flour (white bread, pasta, cookies, cakes etc)

Losing weight is a simple equation: if you burn more calories than you eat, the weight will come off. Start off by estimating how many calories you burn each day using the calorie calculator http://straighthealth.com/pages/tools/caloriecalclb.html This will give you an idea of how many calories to eat. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week. To lose 1 pound per week you need to create a calorie deficit (burn more than you eat) of 500 calories per day. To lose 2 pounds a week, you have to double the deficit to 1000 calories per day. You can achieve this by eating less, exercising more or a combination of both.

My daughter & I went on weightlossbuddy.com and there are tons of great ideas...we posted a peice of paper where we wrote down everthing we ate as we went each day, it helped us both gain control of what we eat, OH and we put it on the refrigerator so we could see it...and change from regular to diet soda, that helps a load!
