Some doctors say it's migraine, others TMJ disorder, yet none of the treatments help me. I'm on disability because of this chronic/acute pain. Any similar experiences? What has worked for you?

No I haven't had this pain. This is just a thought, could there be a pinched nerve somewhere in your neck? Have you seen a chiropractor?

I went through the same thing as you, I have chronic head, face and jaw pain. I went through seeing doctor after doctor and getting nowhere. what I have found helps me the most is getting a professional massage and using a chiropractor. Nothing else works as good. I use the two in combination depending on what I feel will help me the most at that time. I've enclosed a link where you can find a chiropractor in your area.

I hope this helps,

It's hard to comment very specifically without a little more in the way of description. However, some pain syndromes develop from simple problems that were not solved early in the course of the disorder, then turn into chronic pain processes that are very, very hard to solve. In general, treatments might include things like Elavil, Neurontin, Lyrica, Tegretol, sympathetic ganglia ablations, local capsaicin creams, muscle relaxants and the like. You clearly need a pain specialist to help with this and it may take even a full multi-disciplinary team to help you cope.

I am going thru the exact same problem ... its the 3rd week going and i m having ringing in my right ear plus now my jaw bone is aching as well for the past 2 days ... also when i try to pull my ear or try to massage my under ear area my ear opens up to a little more hearing ... there is also a clicking and a pulsating sound from inside ... I have a doctor's appointment on Monday ... i hope it is just wax buildup or maybe fluid but nothing serious ...

In 2004, I started experiencing severe stabbing pains in my right temple, right cheek, and right gum area. It was so intense at times that all I could do was roll around on the bed, holding my head. After visits to 2 dentists, who both accused me of "drug seeking," I went to the ER and was admitted to the hospital. A neurologist diagnosed me with Trigeminal Neuralgia. Have you been checked for this disorder? It would take an MRI and an evaluation by a neurologist.

I did have a problem similar. Have you tried a dentist/orthodontist? MD's had no answers. I was in for a semi-annual cleaning & mentioned the problem to the DDS. He knew what the problem was & with 6 months treatment, I have not experienced the problem in over 20 years.
