Just a curious question. Wondering what are some of the different reasons and opinions of people who attend church.

I go to synagogue every week. I go for a few reasons, tradition, to be part of a community, and see some friends I don't get a chance to see otherwise, and I like the feeling of devoting a little bit of time each week to something that is beyond my understanding. It is humbling.

I am (and I'm even supposed to be on bed rest - don't tell my doctor). I go at least once a week, more if possible. We always go as a family. I go to participate in the most perfect prayer - the sacrifice of the Mass. I go to hear the Word of God in the Scriptures. I go to be refreshed in God's spirit so that when I walk out the doors of the church, I am renewed in my commitment to love and serve my community - not just do lip service for an hour. It's great.
Some might call me and others fanatics... but, well, I guess that just comes with the territory :))

I go to church every week. I go because I work in a church as an interpreter and am paid to do so. I am an Atheist but the church where I interpret is very open and is comprised of Buddhists, Atheists, Christians, Pagans, agnostics, just to name a few. The reason the church motivates me to participate outside of my professional relationship is that this church strongly works to create equality and social justice and affirms diversity. I attend a Unitarian Universalist church which has a long history in the US and we have had several Unitarian or Universalist presidents and many of the founding fathers and imporant US figures have been Unitarians or Universalists.

My god and my church are located in my heart. I go there often every day.

Right now I need to shut down this computer and go have lunch with my sister. She has had a massive stroke and is in a retirement center. So for the moment that is my church, and I do go every Sunday.

Yes, I went this morning and I go EVERY Sunday, whether I am at home or away from home. I go in order to praise and love God with others and to be in the presence of Jesus Christ in the Word that is proclaimed, the in person of the priest who consecrates the bread and wine as Jesus did at the Last Supper, in the Eucharist, and in the people who are gathered in His name.

No not today.
Haven't gone for a preach for 12 years.
Don't need a preach.
The preach is for people who don't know who they are.
For the religious.

I like interactive bible studies.
Not a lot of people, perhaps 30.
A lot of interesting views come out.
It is more like the early church.
Instead of one man calling the shots, the Holy Spirit moves about the congregation using each persons unique way of seeing something.

Me.
To enjoy the fellowship and the corporate worship.
"To provoke one another into love and good works"

Hebrews 10:24-25
24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some [is]; but exhorting [one another]: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

I'm not going, I have to wait for the repair man to come and fix my heater that I called in yesterday afternoon and it's really cold in here and if he doesn't hurry up, I'll be nothing but a G-sus-sicle.
