Carefully, unless he admits to having a problem he won't take kindly to someone else who tells him!!

Don't say anything yet, just keep an eye on him and as he is living in your flat you have the right to tell him if he is behaving in an unacceptable manner.

he is your brother, you want to help him. have a night in together maybe he'll open up. It had to be him who mentions the alcohol first, as soon as he does this you can begin to help him through this.

A true alcoholic may not admit he has a drink problem. I think you will need to speak with him though especially as he is living in your flat. Offer him your support and offer to go to the doctor with him who will probably suggest he attends AA meetings and may give him some medication. If his drinking is really bad then doctor may refer him for a detox program at a unit.
Alcoholism is an addiction and cannot be stopped just like that. He will need support, understanding and professional guidance and help.
I wish him and you luck.

Talk to him about the disadvantages of drinking like lever cancers etc... If it's too much than doctors should be contacted. I hope he is not a sponge.

You have to realize it is HIS problem. Do not help him support his problem by giving him free room and board. Make him pay his way or throw him out.
