Long Island, NY, used to the home of millions of turkeys. Since the development craze on Long Island in the last 50 years, finding a single turkey in the woods is nearly impossible. Yet there are still turkeys in upstate New York.

The NWTF and hunters in general have help to re establish the wild turkey to all U.S. states except Alaska.

I believe they live in all states but Alaska. Some also live down in Mexico, and South America. The Gould's is in Mexico, and the Ocellated is in South America.
