The only way to Heaven is to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour.

This sounds like a question about God's mercy...

As a Christian, I beleive that there are certain requirements for entrance into Heaven... behavior, attitude, beliefs, etc.

If your friend doesn't meet those requirements, he can't enter Heaven, right?... Justice demands that.

But Justice isn't the only factor. God is also merciful. He doesn't expect people to meet requriements they don't know about or don't understand. That wouldn't be reasonable.

(This is where my beliefs differ from most Christians)

I believe that there's a stopping point between this life and Heaven... a place were those who didn't get a chance to hear about and accept Jesus will get that chance. They'll be given the opportunity to learn and understand what the gospel of Jesus Christ is all about.

I think that if those who have died without a knowledge of Him
a) lived by the standards they were taught and did the best they knew,
b) accepted Jesus' offering in this stopping place,
... then God's mercy will provide a way for them to be able to enter (and stay in) heaven.

Since Christianity is not the only belief that assumes a reward after death (i.e. heaven), there's no guarantee that Christians have the only "right" way of thinking or the only path. Universalists believe in universal salvation, meaning all will be saved. Others still, (myself included) believe that there is no heaven and it's all a story to motivate behaviors desired by religious leaders.

Being a "Christian" is kind of vague as so many people in the world have a different view of what that means....more often than not people have a negetive view. What I feel about just about every "religious" controversy is this, read the bible, every word is inspired by God and it holds all the answers. So, to answer your question according to scripture, John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.". I am firm believer that this is the only way to heaven. Hope that's helpful!

You don't have to be christian to get into heaven, i don't really have a religion all you pretty much have to do is be a good person and think before you act and when the time comes for you to go then god will decide. But from what i remember i have never been into heaven and i can't judge anyone but myself.

Yes. You don't have to be Christian to make it into heaven. I think that as long as you live your religion to the best of your ability, and live your life in the way you think you should, you have as much chance to make it to heaven as I do.

If heaven was only set aside for christians, what happened to all the people BEFORE Christ, that never had the option of believing in Him? Heaven would be a pretty lonely place if only CHRIST FOLLOWING christians were the ONLY ones to make it.

I know many great people who aren't Christian. They follow their religion, they practice what they preach, they live their lives in accordance to what they believe.

For all Christians who think that just because they believe in Christ, they will automatically go to heaven, I have a scripture for you to ponder. Matthew 7:21-23. It basically says just because you believe in Christ doesn't mean you will be automatically received into heaven. It says that you have to do the will of the Father (GOD!!). Read it. It's a good one.

!!???!! I think all religions are nearly the same, we're going to the same place, just taking a different route. I'm sure your friend has a version of heaven too (just called a different name), but its wrong to presume your version of heaven is the better or more authentic one. None of us know whats out there for us after this life.

God made promises to several peoples.. Abraham's first son Ishmael and to the Jews...

Jesus Promised the rest of us...

I believe that we have all followed Jesus by coming to Earth to receive a Physical body and being tested.. we will go to Heaven (eventually) unless we KNOW Jesus and then reject Him.. but we might not be in the presence of God the Father.

The christian heaven and hell are identical, why would I want to go to either of them? And if I don't mind my Ps and Qs, would I be cast out? If I didn't Kow Tow to the leaders, I mean?

If we receive Jesus as our Savior, our penalty for sin is paid. We are adopted into God's family, and Heaven is our eternal home. If we reject Jesus, we remain alienated from the Lord and under condemnation for our sin. We are destined to experience eternal judgment. God won't accept any of man's excuses because there is no acceptable defense for unbelief. (Acts 4:12)

Hello David.. :)

According to the Bible..Yes..

All will go to Heaven..But not all will stay.. :(

Revelation 20

The Judgment at the Great White Throne

11 ¶ And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

John 14

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
