I am having seven bridesmaids.. and I have chosen this bill levkoff dress, the picture shows it in camel and what not, but I have chosen to have the dress black, with the white sash.

To give you a better idea... the seven bridesmaids will be in these dresses, and I am planning on having a mixture of white magnolias, roses, and hints of purple hydrangeas. The flower girls, have white dresses with Black sashs (just opposite the bridesmaids) and will be throwing white rose petals.
I just read in a response to another question that black is bad luck... anyone else heard that????

Oh, black bridesmaids dresses are elegant and beautiful. No bad luck either! In fact, your bridesmaids will be thrilled that the dresses are black. They will all look slimmer and everyone looks good in black anyway, unlike some of those funky color bridesmaid dresses. I was at a wedding last summer where the bridesmaids were in black strapless dresses. Each bridesmaid did her own black necklace and earrings. Wow, that looked amazing. They each looked different, yet the same. They each wore their own black sandals, too. None were the same. It's not bad luck because this couple is very happily married and they just made a pile of money selling their house! Then bought a bigger one.

My sister-in-law did black and white for her wedding and it looked beautiful. You can do so much with black and white. Your not restricted to certain colors in flowers or decor because it goes with all! The only thing is, when is your wedding? Because I have tried on dresses like that and they are really heavy and hot. I think that every bride should have to try on the bridesmaids dresses as well, because then it will let you know how they would feel in it. Just a suggestion.

I have actually heard the opposite- that black is good luck. I had black bridesmaid dresses (with deep red roses) for my wedding and it looked great. Perhaps consider the time of year?? Also consider, it's your wedding so you should do what you want AND everyone looks great in black. (plus, if you wear white, you'll stand out even more) It's a beautiful dress and I love the flower idea- go for it!

My cousin had black bridesmaid dresses and it worked out beautifully. It is just a matter of preference. Personally I do not think I would opt for a black dress, but this has no bearing on it bringing bad luck. That is nonsense. And if your flower girls will have the white dresses with black sashes I think things will flow nicely. Good luck!
And remember, it's your special day, you should do what pleases you!

I love it and think black in a wedding is elegant. I am having red with black accents instead of white and it's in June! Throw the rules out the window. It's your day have it your way. By the way I love the dresses, I am sure it will look great. Also, I seen a wedding once with Black and White and the brides maids had long cala lilly bouquets. Awesome!

Sounds like a cool, original idea. Don't let
some stupid superstitious crap screw it up.
If someone tries to talk down your idea, take the intellectual road and tell them that a black gown representing immorality and bad luck was worn by the bride, not the brides maids in the dark interpretation of Mozart's Opera " Don Giovanni".

If you are having a black and white wedding then it is ok. Or if black is your favorite color then that's ok. BUT is your wedding in the summertime? Because your bridesmaids will be too hot wearing black (dark colors attract heat). Best thing to do is have them wear your favorite color or the color of your wedding theme (say all your flowers are in certain colors, your table cloths, etc).

If your superstitious well I guess it could be seen as bad luck but hey I got married in a black dress and we have been married for 7 years now - I'm not overly superstitious so it didn't bother me - If its what you want just go for it! Enjoy the day and don't worry about all of that :)
