then why do you constantly resort to namecalling and stereotypes? How are either of those supposed to be signs of intellectual superiority?

No, I'm not a hypocrite, because I don't go around trying to tell atheists that I'm intellectually superior.

They think this, because they are god's in their own minds. No one is more knowing or more powerful. If atheists were to do their homework, they'd find that many great and educated people were/are disciples of Christ. People who could intellectually stomp on them, have found salvation through Christ and reasoned the existence of God. It is small minded to think that you know all and everyone else is an idiot.

What I wonder about...is do the atheists realize that through their words they actually make a case for Christ? Jesus said.."they will hate you because of me."
Matt 10:22

Atheists fulfill the words of Christ.

I never did that. I refer to you as church people, but that's not name calling.

All I said was, that belief in Jesus is emotional; and evidence for it is not necessary and evidence against it is not used.

As for intellectual superiority, all I said was: most educated people and most people occupied in scientific careers do not believe that Jesus got up after being dead three days and started walking around like nothing ever happened, and then rose into the sky and became a god.

Plus, it's weird and creepy.

I don't call church people names, cause their religion is emotional and it's social and cultural; and what would be the point of saying nasty things?

It's the belief that is weird and creepy, not the people.

i don't think it's a matter of intellectual superiority - it's a matter of having a different frame of mind. Christians tend to ignore what 'the church' did in the early years to stamp out as many other religions as possible. Easiest example would be christmas. Most theologians that have done actual research on the birth of Christ agree that he was actually born sometime between March and May, yet christmas is celebrated in December - why? Well, the 'pagan' religions celebrated the seasons as homage to the 'mother earth' and the largest one was the winter solstace - in order for christianity to absorb one more religion, they moved their biggest holiday to the same time frame and said 'hey, you're just celebrating the birth of Christ, come join us.'

it really is not a incontrovertible truth that atheists carry guilt and Christians do no longer. "Guilt is an evolutionary mechanism meant to help with the upkeep of species by technique of causing people who've harmed different people to quit with the risky habit. it really is a consistent reminder that such movements are undesirable and guilt left intact guarantees that such habit is decreased seriously." I don;t imagine that you comprehend Christianity o.k. - Believing in God does no longer eliminate any human instinct. for this reason, I disagree. This Christian lives with truly some guilt. i ought to in no way declare to be extra moral than all of us - nor ought to I ever declare to entice close what others are or aren't from now on feeling to blame for. Cheers.

I disagree that all smart people are atheists or that there is no logic for Christianity. Read The Case for a Creator and The Case for Christ by Lee storbel or The New Evidence that Demands a Verdict by Josh Mcdowell. Both give logical evidence for Christianity.

I have noticed some good atheist questions. I do not recall anyone, seriously, saying that they are intellectually superior. Those that do are obviously not, probably just children trying their wings. Nothing to be concerned about. There are very few true atheists of adult age.

Intellectually superior, they claim and most fit into the category that President Eisenhower describes.

As a 'Christian' may I offer this concept; let us 'clean up' our present mess; before we criticize others. Example of one 'mess'; the scriptural old testament is not Genesis-Malachi, the law of Moses. Was Moses the first man? Could 'Christians' be turning off marginal atheists and agnostics with 'Christians' illogical viewpoint?

Hi, I'm a Christian, but this thought comes
to mind:
In the world, there are:
stupid Christians, smart Christians.
stupid athiests, smart athiests.
stupid buddhists, smart buddhists
stupid catholics, smart well, ok catholics
stupid doctors, smart doctors
stupid tax collectors, smart tax collectors.

Get it? No matter what group you look at,
you are gonna see smart and stupid.
Its just the nature of things......

Seriously, Christians as a group can't get upset about this as it is "Christians" which go around doing their own name-calling and damning , etc. Go look in some of theother categories (Gay for example.)

I'm not saying you do that, and I do agree that it would be very nice if everyone could stop the useless name calling and stop trying to apply labels to everything/everyone, and just learn to get along.
