TRUE

Morality is people living their lives properly because they want to, not because some book tells them how to lead it

Theists are people who've a company definition of a hypothetical God of their imaginations and are additionally specific that this definition describes some thing authentic. each physique else, who isn't theist is atheist, because of the fact 'no longer theist' is all that atheist ability. i'm atheist and that i do no longer carry around in my mind's eye any specific definition for the be conscious 'God'. each and every time I communicate God with any believer, I settle for in spite of definition they take under consideration for that be conscious. you may examine up on what the guy who coined the be conscious 'agnostic' had to assert approximately it. Sir Thomas Henry Huxley used his agnostic arguments as a protection of his atheism. Agnosticism is approximately the clarification why actuality (perception) approximately suitable issues, like the life of a hypothetical God, isn't logically defensible, if the believer who invents the definition if that hypothetical God defines it as some thing unknowable, in thought. Your techniques approximately what agnostic ability are at odds with the guy who coined the be conscious. -- Regards, John Popelish

Agreed. Although I don't think that Theists do good *only* out of spiritual self-interest. I would, however, be surprised if it never crossed said Theist's mind when deciding what course of action to take.

Totally disagree. That was a shallow statement. lt sounded really closed minded and very narrow. Open your mind a little it didn't sound like you had consideration for other people. If you want to be a atheist do it but leave the people that do love God and live by the word our respect also. I think the word that stuck out was "Only".

False.

Paul tells us how to become a Christian. James goes more into detail what is expected from us.

Christians do not do good only to avoid hell. It is actually a pleasure to do our God's wish and help each other out. God wants us to have this pleasure, and pleasure it is.

I have found true happiness in helping others. It feels great to be considered of others. But there is nothing wrong about being considered of ourselves too.

When you help others, you are doing God's will for you even if you do not believe in Him. You have a choice. : )

About true morality, without God's standard of the Moral Law, we are left with human opinions about it. : )

No. Theists can be genuinely moral. Based on Y!A, the percentage is very low, but I believe it is higher in the real world.

Hello icarus62.. :)

No..I cannot agree..Not "only" Atheism allows for the existence of genuine morality..

Many show their Love and concern for others..such as sweet Pangel.. :(

It is not my interest that I care about..it is the interest of others.. :)

If it was for selfish needs, then I would keep to myself and not try to help others..such as feeding the homeless, visiting those in jail and in the Hosptials..etc

In Jesus Most Precious Name..
With Love..In Christ.. :)

Morality has to do with mores (what's considered acceptable). Quite frankly, it's a self-interested old world. Ever heard of herd behaviour. Every cult that ever is or was has justified itself Robin Hood style by advocating for its health benefits, friendship circles, charitable interests, scientific interests, personal fulfilment of ambition etc. However, cults are defined as that which puts ideology before person. Their ideology is deemed to be applicable to only a subset of the human race. For nonChristians, variety is the spice of life. A mixture of cults in one's life is a cure inasmuch as a cure is when you slow down the drying time of concrete.

Christianity means valuing yourself. So yes, you are correct. Theists do good as a matter of self-interest, because God will judge those who destroy his temple, which means our body. Is this immoral? We are not trying to contribute to drug addiction treatment costs for the community. We are not trying to contribute to medical bills for stupid extreme sports pranks. Is looking after ourselves immoral? I don't think so.

Repenting allows for the exclusion of morals in daily life.
Atheists know we are responsible for our actions.
We evolved morals to allow for the species to become more successful through cooperation. Religion gives you an excuse to ignore morals, and justify your wrong doings.

OK, not quite. Some religious people claim that their moral code is absolute because it comes from God. Of course, the answer to that is: which one, what version and which bits?

Atheists on the other hand tend to look to the law and cultural convention for their morals. This is relative depending on the society in question - although there tend to be certain core values - but still as absolute as God's morality. In fact, one could say they are more absolute (if that's a logical phrase!) as everyone is subject to the law regardless of their faith.

This would only be true if atheists denied the existence of the self, which they do not.
