Loureiro means Bay leaf in Portuguese and in Gallego (a dialect from Galicia, Spain).
In Spanish it's "Laurel".

I have also met a few people with the last name "Loureiro", but I think that the first definition is the one you are looking for.

It's portuguese. It means a bush from which leaves serves as food, named louro, that is used as a condiment for many foods. In english: laurel tree.
