Studied up on first century Palestine, have you? The Romans crucified 30,000 Jewish men in a single day shortly before the death of Christ. One would-be Messiah was chased into the desert and slaughtered along with thousands of followers, and Pilate massacred several thousand souls before sprinkling their blood over the daily sacrifices. Sounds like a witch-hunt or two to me.
Of course, you could also count that whole incident in 70 AD -

Hmmmmm.
A) Why bring a criminal ALLLLLLL the way from Jerusalem to Rome when it's much cheaper to croak him back at the scene of the crime?
B) Where do you get the idea that Rome gave a tinker's d**n in the first place? Outside of Pilate and his soldiers, no Roman knew bupkus about Jesus.
C) What makes you think He committed a crime against Rome? It was the Sanhedrin, jealous of their authority over the people, who clamored for His death. They tried and failed the first time. Pilate told them he could find no wrong in the man and sent Him to Herod. After Herod had his sicko fun he sent Jesus back to Pilate. But by then the Sanhedrin had a backup plan. They blackmailed Pilate with the threat of telling Rome that he wasn't a proper governor. That could have ended his career, even if he WAS married to Caesar's sister. So he caved and used the excuse of treason, ie, that Jesus was calling Himself King of the Jews, when only Caesar could be that.
D) And what makes you think that crucifixion was easier than being torn apart by wild beasts? Honey, the critters'll do for you in minutes at the most. A professional crucifixion could take up to a full day, even more.
E) Your peoration is both puerile and pathetic, displaying both infantility and ignorance in equal and staggeringly large amounts. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

This is far from being funny if that`s what you think and shows what is deep within you,you have to be hurting to say this, the Romans crucified Jesus because the Pharisee`s told lies that Jesus was setting Himself up as a rival to Caesar, and Pilate in his cowardly self preservation gave in to them, you too have shown the same cowardice in your accusations.

Technically Jesus died bcos the Jews in power wanted him to... the Romans were the tools of execution. Pilate didn't want to kill him, and Herod would rather have Jesus in his court than on a cross. Besides, the Coliseum thingy for Christians- happened WAY after the time of Jesus.

And, surely as your statement/question suggests you flunked out of history class in the 4th grade and left it at that. So bad.
Btw, the Romans did not go on a "witch-hunt", in fact, they did not want to kill Jesus because he had such a great following, they were afraid of the backlash.
Btw, there were no hippies then, but then you have that problem in history, don't you?

Well it was't unusual for the Romans to crucify someone, especially in occupied Judea, especially heretics who threatened the established order. Truth be told Jesus could have easily been a composite character created from many similair stories.
