It gets burned, like fuel. Matter can neither be created nor destroyed (basic physics). Our bodies burn calories/fat in order to create energy and heat. We lose weight when we take in less fuel (food) than we actually need, then the body must burn the stored fuel (fat).

The fat is burned off as calories,when you work out and sweat.
You will increase your muscle mass which is much heavier than fat,so you may lose fat but not weight.

actually,when were sleeping! scientists found out that while you breath while sleeping,you release fat into the ventilation system in the air! so if you really want to lose weight,sleep a lot! (just kidding-just sleeping wont do you any good.you have to exercize and eat right too!)
