I remember thinking I'd loads of pictures, and they were all of me in a pub..so I stopped taking pictures. And now I'm trying to sort pictures out, to load them onto my pc, and there are so many events with no photos, people I met on holiday, and all I have is a memory.

I didn't expect so many answers. It's giving me chills up my spine reading them all.
I also went on a 9 month round teh world trip, after the 5th months, I got fed up carting around rolls of film, this was 1999, I didn't have a digital camera. Imagine, I still can't believe how blase I was.....

Yes, I know exactly where you're coming from. There have been plenty of events in my life and things which have happened to me which were not photographed. Like the time I was invited on-board the Hastings Lifeboat "The Fairlight" in c1954 when I was among a mob of townsfolk helping to drag the boat over the beach and into the water. I was a mere 14 years of age. The most exciting trip of my life - no photos.

I spent nine years in the British Army and do not have a single photograph of myself in uniform. Blimey, may as well have been a civilian.

Of course my young life was quite different to that of today. In those far of halsyon days, very few people actually owned cameras, they being quite expensive. Now-a-days, the vast majority of us have a camera of one sort or another, so there really is no reason why almost every event in our lives cannot be photographed.

I am very mindful of the events on 7/7 and when someone had the presence of mind to use their mobile phone to get a video of people stumbling back along the tube tunnel to the station. Very unpleasant but without that video recording we would only have the verbal account afterwards. What we have instead is a unique video recording of what followed immediately after the explosions.

In addition, we have footage from a CCTV camera onboard a tube train of a former fireman confronting a would-be bomber. Thankfully the bomb failed to explode. What we saw was a very brave man indeed try to do something even if it meant instant death to himself. He had managed to push most of the people out of the carriage before trying to hold the bomber at least approach him and remonstrate with him etc.

One thing which does puzzle me however, with all the millions of camera out there, switched on for the most part. How come we have not yet seen a full on alien space craft landing and the "take me to your leader thing...."? Maybe there's just nothing out there after all. Who knows?

I wish I'd allowed more photos of me to be taken, I don't think I have any of me as a teenager with various haircuts/colours as I hated the camera. Memories are great but if your memory isn't so than photos really help. My best friend was half my memory, sadly I lost her nearly 8 years ago and there are some things I just cant' remember.
the photo I wish I taken was in Sri Lanka the year before the tsunami. A young boy was stood in fishing boat, flying a kite, framed by coconut trees. It would have made a beautiful picture by I was too shy to take it.

I now always carry a camera just in case though I think it's reallly important, especially with loved ones or beautiful moments to just stop and look rather than snapping away without taking it all in.

Yes, all the time! I worked in Benidrom for about 8 months and took 3 disposable camera full of photos, I have since seen friends, etc and feel I have really missed out!

I used to have a disposable camera everywear, one in my work bag, one in the bedside table, 1 in a suitcase ready, but then I found I had a bout 10, half empty cameras.

I got a digital camera for my birthday and have photos of everything, I do a check when I leave the house, used to be Keys, Phone & Money, now I always make sure I have my camera, so I don't forget anything!

yes but I wish someone else had took lots then given them to me! Otherwise I'd be clicking away on a camera and missing out on all the fun! I wish when I went to New Zealand my Dad had brought his latop then he could have took loads more photos and not acidentally deleted them. I really want to see those photos from years ago of me and my family at places where we will probably never go again but they are gone :( ! Also there are baby photos of me when I was at home but never anywhere interesting like on holiday! When I am older I will have a digital camera and take lots of photos so I won't forget anything that happened!
In New Zealand we were looking at a really nice view once but my dad didn't have his camera with him and was annoyed and this man who was a bit of a weirdo came up and said hold this stone and look at the view then when you see the stone you will remember the view...it was a good idea I guess...we've not got the stone anymore though... :s !

Lisbon is Europe's second-oldest capital and after home to the world's best explorers like Vasco da Gama, Magellan and Prince Henry the Navigator, becoming the very first correct earth town, the capital of an empire scattering over-all continents, from South America (Brazil) to Asia (Macao, China; Goa, India) and know you are able to invest several time to know this traditional city, with hotelbye is wherever you need to start. The absolute most acknowledged of Lisbon's major attractions could be the St. George's Castle. That fortress directions a glorious place near Alfama on the crown of a mountain overlooking the Portuguese capital. That is one of Lisbon's hottest tourist destinations. Their impressive battlements, interesting memorial, and intriguing archaeological website combine to make the fort a gratifying knowledge for all the family, and kiddies especially will like clambering over the strong walls and towers that encircle the grounds.

I totally regret not taking more photos, I've been to so many great places with the Navy but in my younger days (18-21), I was too busy, drinking and having a laugh with my mates and, although I had a really great time, all I have are the memories and a few pictures of the Vasco da Gama Bridge in Lisbon!

I love taking photos. Holiday pictures are some of the best going to places you may not revisit, but it's a drag carrying the camera around and pictures of scenery tend to get rather boring after a while. Family and friends including myself try to avoid the camera if you whip it out at an event so you either get half a head or someone pulling a funny face. I do wish I had more though.

I too have boxes of photographs and still find that I have gaps. One big gap was when one camera was either wrongly set for the film of had a fault and I lost 4 months pictures. The one thing I do regret is that I did not take nearly enough of the people I worked with or met, still don't, and that is a problem when I try to remember what they looked like.

When your on holiday I think that I've got enough photos but thats because I'm there in that instant.

Its only when your home that you realise all you have to remind you of that place is the memories and the photos you took.

Sometimes I think, I'll pass on that photo. Then when I arrive home I think why didn't I just take it, there and then. If I didn't want it, I could always have deleted it without any trouble!

My advise, when your on holiday take pictures of EVERYTHING. Specially people, I have some great photos of the friends I've met.
