i am carpenter emigrating to Australia from ireland but don't know what cities to live in ?

emigrating in the next 2 months whats the pay rate for carpenters can i bring over own tools or buy out there.

My husband is a carpenter from Ireland and when we came out to Australia last year he had no problems what so ever finding work.We live just outside Melbourne,and at the moment he charges around $45 to $50 dollars an hour.The further away you are from cities the lower the wages seem to be.We weren't to sure whether to bring my husbands tools so we got my family to send catalogues over to Ireland to see what the prices for were like for new tools.We bought new tools when we got here as it worked out to be more economical to buy all new tools.We spent $7,500 for every thing,from drills,a chop saw,circular saw,air compressor,a variety of air guns,laser level,(you get the picture).What ever state you choose to live in,you Will have to get a health and safety card,in Victoria they are called red cards,and in N.S.W they are called green cards.They are not hard to get,You have to do a day seminar and at the end of it you get your card.I think my husband had to pay around $200 for his Victorian one.Carpenters can't do every thing that a carpenter can do in Ireland,for instance you can't do roofs(That's a plumbers job here)unless you get yourself registered when can be a bit time consuming and cost a wee bit of money,but it is worth it.If you need any help with any more information feel free to email me.Take care.
