I have suffered from headaches and migraines since I was about 15 years old (26 now). Sometimes there is no trigger but more often than not I can find one. They have also change dover the years. I can't tolerate things I used to be able to and I can tolerate things I never could before. MSG will cause them along with orange juice. Lack of sleep and stress. One of the major triggers used ot be taking too many painkillers for my headaches casuing rebound headaches so I had to go cold turkey for a while but it did help. Another cause can be the contraceptive pill.
If they are affecting your standard of living then see your GP. Also try keeping a diary of what you're eating, drinking and doing so you can spot potential triggers.

I've suffered with severe migranes for the past 4-5 years.I am now on amitriptyline at nites to try and prevent them, but i still have one every day.Dairy products can be a trigger, also coffee, smoking. Also any painkiller with codeine taking in large amounts,ie every day can make them worse they give you an analgesic headache when used daily.

Headaches can be caused by minor problems
like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more serious reasons
like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can
have harmful side effects, so it is better to
modify your lifestyle. More information available at

I have recurrent headaches and I have found that they are usually because of the following:
*Dehydration (drink something, not alcoholic or caffeinated)
*Hypoglycaemia - low blood sugar (eat something)
*Hypertension - high blood pressure (stress)
*Hypotension - low blood pressure (standing up too quickly)
*Eye strain (not wearing my glasses, tut tut)
*Allergies (chocolate and cheese in my case)
Think thats about it. HTH!
