I find that if you sort of pretend you are someone that you know who is really confident while delivering your speech it can help. Acting like you are really confident will make you feel mre confident and less likely to feel pressured and more relaxed. I don't know if you do but writing notes beforehand always helps and if there is a moment where you are lost for words just apoligize to your audience and take a few seconds to think. I am sure you will be fine, good luck! Hope I have helped xxx

If it is a problem "talking" in front of ppl that you are having. Here is what i do ....forget the whole imagining them in their undies (that may have worked well 30 yrs ago when that was shocking), think of each person as an individual. This is what i had to do and have passed it along to my son and he says it works well for him. You are standing up there and all these ppl are looking at you so you get nervous, but why? How would you feel about talking to each of these ppl as a person? Would you be nervous talking to 1, 2 or 3 ppl?....so why be nervous with a crowd? they are still 1,2 and 3 ppl. Also you said you have to pause to figure out what to say. You need to write the speech and have it memorized if you want to do well (not everyone has to do this, i improvise alot but it sounds like that is not an option for you). or you still will have a hard time even under my theory.
I guess the basis of my theory is: everyone is my friend and wants to hear what I am going to say. Get up there look at all your friends and tell them your great idea. OR if in school why this person you are talking about is cool. That is the other point....you know when you are giving a lame speech. Make it "not" lame and you will really help yourself in your comfort zone.
Good Luck

First of all, and most important be confident. Write your speech in a logical way so that it flows and is consistent. Practice it several times and althougjh I don't advocate memorising by heart it you should be as familiar as possible with what you are going to say. Print the speech in large type so that it is easily read and mark salient or important parts with a highlighter pen. Have these notes in front of you as you speak so they can be referred to. Alternatively, if you can memorise most of it, put headings on 'Prompt Cards', these being pieces of card or paper with a heading of the particular topic in the speech and a few 'bullet points' underneath. Keep the cards in order.
If you do not like facing an audience look at a point at the back of the room about six inches above the head of the people in the back row. To the audience it will seem that you are addressing the person behind them and to those at the back as if you are gazing genarally at the whole audience. If you are more confident look at the audience as you speak making brief eye contact with them. Look down at the notes or cards after finishing each point or paragraph so that the next point is prompted to you. Take a deep breath before speaking and use facial expressions . Try to put a little humour into the speech early on if appropriate. When speaking don't keep to a drone as if you are reading our a news item on TV or a bunch of statistics. Remember that to each person in the audience it is them you are speaking directly to. It is not important to them what you say to the others. Make sure that you are fully conversant with your topic in the event of questions. If someone asks something you cannot answer say 'I'm sorry but I am unable to give you that information right now but if you see me later and give me your name I'll find out for you.'
Smile at your audience and don't look aggresive. Remember. 'Be Confident' You can do it.

I don't know if you have other problems associated as well, but first of all you should start standing high in the crowd first, then start delivering speech. For e,g you should start talking to a group of people composed of 5-6 persons, talk well, then prepare your speech and try not to look too much in the eyes of the people.Last time,i got high distinction for my presentation. Now I have one more to do and it's more important. MAybe,if I have done it well one time,I will have the courage and confidence to say that i can do it once again.Know your speech well, then u can deliver it fluently.

When it comes to speeches I don't really try to give them I just do. It comes easily because I don't try to be perfect or accurate. If I randomly decide to say a sentence differently them I do. And I don't try to impress anyone or try my best to be the best. When it comes to the spoken word you cannot force it or perfect it or even to organize it like an essay or a letter. You just have to expect that whatever happens you know your speech, your material, and what you want to get across to the people you have to say it to. If I had a problem similar to yours I bet that I would practice it as much as possible instead of just remembering the key point in order and that i would be self conscious of everyone instead of just ignoring them and getting what I need to say said in the way I want to say it while forgetting that anyones in the room except for the people I want to remember. But that's just my perspective on the matter.

He really had no business giving a speech in any foreign country to begin with. He did insult all americans who are not bilingual, saying he was embarassed when americans go to a foreign country and cannot speak the language. Should we be embarassed of him speaking in a foreign country and doing it in english? A little note. The media has donated to the democrats 100-1. Does that explain the media bias.

Only one thing ,practice.Start in the morning getting ready, tape speech to the mirror. And dont let any opportunity to rehearse, from in the car to hanging with friends. You`ll become comfortable in the delivery before you know it.
