Would you defend a faith or religion you dislike when someone says something about it that isn't true?
For example:
Mormons hate black people.
This is a false statement. Black people have been accepted into the priesthood for over 20 years. Joseph Smith gave the priesthood to 2 black men that I am aware of, prior to Brigham Young 'revelation.'

We should. Bearing false witness is wrong and when someone does it as a debating technique it is really wrong. For example every day someone in this forum will say that Catholics worship statues even though every day we tell them we do not. Do you think that Catholics listen to such people on other topics? No, they have ruined their credibility. If you share the ideology of the liars it is very important for you to stop the lies to maintain the credibility of your belief system. It will show others that you have integrity and that the liar only represents himself, not your ideology.

Of course. But of course, I don't believe my path is the One True Path, I think this is where people get messed up. Even if you do believe that your path is the One True Path, what's the harm in setting the record straight? Spread your gospel through actions, Jesus didn't go around saying, "You're going to hell if you don't believe in me", he went around doing good works, and teaching people, serving as an example of how others should live.

Also, I believe it's a beautiful thing when people remember not only their own right to believe as they wish, but also recognize that everyone else has that right as well.

(Sorry, not sure if I'm making sense yet, I'm still groggy....)

As a Christian, one of my calls is to uphold truth and respect for others. I see plenty of plenty of people who call themselves Christians mailciously bashing muslims, athiests, budhists, etc. name calling the people and disrespecting them. We should never tear down a person because of their beliefs. We are called to be a light in a dark world and to share our truth, but never, never tear down a person for their faith in their religion.

It makes my skin crawl when I see questions like, "(Muslims, Atheists, etc) how can you be so stupid...?" In cases like this I would absolutely defend the other faith. There is no excuse for treating others like this.

Whether I agree with a person's religious views or not, I will always defend their right to their views. So my answer is "yes."

BTW, I have friends who are Latter-Day Saints (Mormons). They're very nice people.

I won't have to defend their faith, they can very well do that themselves, the same with me, No one can defend my faith, I am very much capable of doing that myself.
