We hold grudges against people no matter what it is where the love. How can we be forgiven if we don't forgive but that does not mean to walk up and say I you forgiven. Why don't we forgive like Christ want us to when he forgave the people that nailed him to the cross and we just as guilty. Why don't we obey him? any thought?

The question is not so much about why forgiveness is not given more frequently. The question is about why we do anything that goes against Christ's example and mandate to "Love one another as I have loved you." The answer is that we are people of freewill, able to make decisions about whether or not we want to follow God's will for our lives and for the world. We have a will of our own. When we resist God's will in favor of our own, we sin. The word "sin" does not mean evil or bad, though it is. The word "sin" was an archery term and meant to miss the mark. When we sin, our will misses the mark of God's will. Therefore, our failure to forgive is a result of our will going against God's will, our will asserting itself as more right than God. We decide that God's will for us to live in harmony with one another is less important than our will to be right or superior. So we withhold forgiveness.

Many would then question how a Christian could have sin if Christ has removed the sin from that person. The answer to that is that Christ did not remove the sin, but actually removed the guilt of the sin. Looking at it in terms of law, the Christian's case is dismissed because the sentence has already been fulfilled. However, Christians still commit acts of sin, missing the mark of God's will for the us and the world. As we learn more about Christ and develop a closer relationship with God, then we will become more like Christ. Therefore, we will ultimately align our will to God's will more frequently and sin less. In connection with your immediate question, the more Christ-like we are and the less we sin, the more likely we are to follow Christ's example and forgive those around us, even those whose acts disgust us.

We strive to be like Christ, but will not be like him until we are with Him in His glory.....in the mean time, we work towards that goal, to be like Him....but remember we are still living in a fallen world, and as long as we are in this world we will never be perfect....so when a brother or sister falls short and doesn't forgive like you think they should, have patience with them.....you're not perfect yourself...

because sometimes it is so bizar and compeltely against the human nature to forgive.
imagine a sadistical murderer who hold you only child in hostage for 30 years and then finally after long long tortures killed him.

So are you willing as a mother / father to forgive this person ?

Because a lot of Christians, sadly enough, believe that believing in God will be all that it takes for them to go to Heaven, instead of actually being a good person, which we should all be even if there wasn't a Kingdom of God.
