If you really want a tattoo, not matter what anyone’s says you will go and get it done. You must have a great relationship with your mum for you too ask to get a tat & for her to agree for you to have one.
I had my first tat & 16, without parental permission, I just lied about my age, the only regret i have is the place I chose for it to be done (on the top of my arm) I was a goth at the time and never thought I would be a suit wearing ball attending kinda gal, all I cared about was keeping my hair purple, tats & piercings and of course partying.... oh how things change. If I had the chance I would put my shoulder tat somewhere I could hide it as at times it really isn’t something I want to show off, please don’t get me wrong I love tats and want a big piece along my lower back, but as we live in such image obsessed societies, at times I would feel more comfortable with it not on show, i have looked into getting two of my tats removed & it is extortionately expensive.
My advice to you, is don’t go to your local corner shop scratcher, do your research and get something you can live with & be proud of for the rest of your life. A good tattoo is not cheap, you really will get what you pay for from a good artist. be willing to travel for good art, there are many fantastic artists out there who will be willing to let you watch work being done & first chat to you about what you want. DO NOT PICK A PIECE OF FLASH OFF THE WALL OR OUT OF A BOOK be original, tats are addictive, just be choosy, hey may be you can convince your mum to get one at the same time as you!!!!
Good luck

I don't kno wthe laws over there, but here in the US, you pretty much have to be 18, even with parental consent. Some people think this is annoying or whatever, but personallly, I think it's a good thing. I'm also underage (granted, not as underage as you, but it still counts.) I've wanted a tattoo for almost a year now, and I'm so grateful that I am forced, by law, to wait. It's given me a chance to design exactly what I want, and to research artists so I have the best one possible put something permanent in my skin. i just hope taht you consider waiting a little bit longer, because chances are what you like as a 15 year-old won't be the same in even a year's time. I can say that from personal experience. Good luck, whatever you chose to do!

I have 6 tattoos soam in no way against it, but I don't believe a child of your age should be encouraged in any way. What you may think looks cool now could end up being the biggest regret when you mature and find your individual style, which believe me comes with age. I had a friend who lied about his age and got a tacky man utd tattoo when he was 15 and he hates it now he is a family/business man, and hides it away at all times. I'm prety sure you have to be 18 in the Uk and anyone who tattoos you knowingly shouldn't be allowed to practice. It's great that your mum isn't against this but please think very carefully about what you do about this and what you eventually decide to get tattooed. My daughter is 15 and although she has grown up seeing my tattoos and peircings over the yrs, I would never give permission for her to have one until she's the legal age.

Hi!

Can you answer a few questions first?
* Do you know what flash is?
If not, do some more research then consider the following questions:

* Are you planning to just pick some flash for your tattoo?
* Are you planning to have it somewhere visible (i.e. hands, feet, neck, shoulder, leg?)
* Are you getting this tattoo because it will look nice?
If you've answered yes to the above, you might not be ready for a tattoo.

Some other questions:
* Are you planning to collect ideas and draw the tattoo yourself? Or get a tattoo artist to draw it?
* Have you thought about placement - i.e. if it will be difficult to get a job if you have one on your hands or feet?
* Do you want a unique tattoo that truly means something to you? Can you tell me what this tattoo represents to you?
If you've answered yes to the above, then you are obviously taking this seriously and perhaps you are mature enough to get a tattoo.

Here's the thing....

The law states that you cannot get a tattoo until you are 18 - with or without parent's consent.

Of course, some tattoo 'artists' will break this law and give you a tattoo with your mother present. Now - if they're breaking this law, can you imagine what else they are slack with? Hygeine? Steralisation? Aftercare advice? The tattoo process itself?

Any decent tattoo artist (and I mean a REAL tattoo ARTIST) will not give you a tattoo until you are 18 - with or without parental consent. You will be getting a skilled professional who will care about your tattoo as much as you do; you'll get the correct aftercare advice; you'll feel safe in the knowledge that their equipment is safe and sterile... and they won't be breaking the law.

My sister had a devil tattoo at 15 without my mom's permission. It cost £20. Guess what? He pressed too hard with the needle, so the colour faded quickly and it took ages to heal, it was a solid colour with no shading, so it looks very cheap ... it's on her shoulder, visible to the world. She's put on some weight and grown into her adult body, as we all do as we pass the age of 18. The tattoo doesn't look good. She really regrets it.

When I was 16, 17 and 18 I was SURE that I wanted a celtic / tribal pattern on my lower back or hip/abdomen. For 2 whole years I really wanted that design. Then I heard the phrase "tramp stamp" (if you don't know what that is, google it) and noticed that every other person has a tattoo there. Now I'm 22, I'm so glad I didn't get that tattoo. I hadn't finished growing up. I'm planning to get one in 4 weeks time to mark the end of my University course and to represent the change and growth in myself during this time. I'm designing it myself and I know that my mind is now mature enough to understand just how serious getting a tattoo is. I thought I was old enough at 16, but looking back on it I wasn't. I'm so glad I waited.

Getting a tattoo is a very serious commitment. For every tattoo given, two are removed by laser (painfully and leaving ugly scars). Most people who get tattoos removed admit that they had their tattoos done too young.

I don't think you should get one until your body and mind have grown for a few more years. But essentially it's down to you. Take the risk with an illegal tattooist who couldn't really care less about you or your body, or wait a few years and get a proper tattoo ARTIST to give you something that is worth having for life.

Here's a few articles for you, just give them a read before you decide:

Surely coming clean 2 ur mum is better than permanently scarring your body! If you aren't old enough to get a tattoo then the chances are you aren't old enough to drink either (probably for this very reason) anyway there is makeup that's available that's used too cover up scars, birthmarks etc. Im sure if you search Google you'll find out where you can buy it! Don't do something else you might regret later! Good luck!

your mother should not really encourage you to get a tattoo, at age 15 or age 50 - Are you sure she was serious?
I expect she was joking.

Anyway you won't be able to - you have to be 18.

Your tastes may change alot between 15 and 18.
Some people think tattoos look trashy on women. Thats not my opinion neccessarily but its something to bare in mind.

i wouldn't do it if i was you.

When i was 18 and with my boyfriend, he paid for me to have a tattoo.
i chickened out, he was a bit miffed but it was soon forgotten.

In the end the relationship didn't last anyway, and i'm glad i didn't have it done. I would have regretted it.

It is your body - just think carefully about it.

How about a henna tattoo or something temporary. Express yourself through hair make up clothes.

my friend was 15 when she went with her mum to have a tattoo. only problem is it was a playboy bunny on her back. in 40 years time shel regret it a lot i presume. when your 55 i cant see you wanting something that was cool when you was young but out of date and looking a little bit silly when your 55. if your considering a tatto think of something you can grow old with and if you have a tattoo dont just have it because it's cool....try and get something with meaning. when im older i plan to have a love heart on my back/wrist not sure yet and then for every child i have a star sprouting off from it and if im married another love heart joined to the original. this way it has meaning and not just there for the sake of it.
and im sorry for wirting an essay :P

I'm 16 and i have asked my mum over and over again if i can have a tatoo but she jst keeps sayin no so i think your mum is soooo cool hehe. You arent allowed with or without your parent/s being there, its not like with piercings. but some tattoo artists will break the law. Just remember tho, only get a tattoo that means something to you as you may regret it in the future.

You will be able to if your mother lies. However, you may get the studio in trouble if anything goes wrong (penicillin allergies etc). Wait for a while and then when you are 18 you can do it without any regrets or legal problems for the studio.

However, if you are set on it, then make sure the artist who tattooes you is a good one - they take ages to remove and can cost over £2000 to remove.

Check the portfolios!!!
