What is the easiest and fastest way to lose fat and gain muscle (primarily in the abdominal region) (preferably without any equipment) I would mostly prefer activities that can be done alone in the morning.

Push-ups, sit-ups and tricep dips are 3 good ways to exercise to tone up your stomach muscles and a few others. I would suggest that you do obtain a set of dumbells though as these can be beneficial to do other exercises that will give your body very good tone.

The dumbells need only be eleven pounds or five kilograms. Above this and you get into body building. I am nearly 65 years old and look forward to my regular exercises, including brisk walks. I have been told that I look much younger than my chronological age and much younger than many men far younger than I am.

You need to eat sensibly as well. Do not diet but eat low GI foods; foods that are low in fat, especially saturated fats; and drink plenty of water. Have a glass of water before each meal and between meals, especially if you start to feel hungry. Avoid drinking soft drinks as they are usually very high in processed carbohydrates, as are alcoholic beverages.

It is also good to have a light snack between meals to maintain energy levels. This may be a piece of fruit, a few nuts, or a small serve of yoghurt.

I believe in the 90%/10% rule where you can binge about one night a week, if you wish. By this I mean have a piece of cake, a cookie, or chocolate bar, or a meal such as a schnitzel or pizza that can stack on the weight.

I respect the fact that you have made a choice to better yourself. Choices can make or break us.

Remember, "Winners never quit and quitters never win". So be disciplined.

Good luck with your venture.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter your stats and it will tell you how many calories a day you need to maintain your weight. take 300-400calories off that number and that's how much you need to lose weight.
eat 5-6 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones.
5-8 servings of fruit and vegetables a day.
8 glasses of water a day.
4-6 times a week cardio work out for 30-50min plus light weight training.
no junk food, no sodas, no white flour (white bread, pasta, cookies, cakes etc)
