Both are full of friendly people, but hot and starting to get overpopulated.
People seem a little more liberal in Melbourne... there's a bigger gay culture there, and people I've met from Melbourne tend to party more than the ones I've met from Brisbane.
Beautiful beaches in and around Brisbane, but it's hard to find a place to rent there now, or so I hear.
Melbourne is referred to as Australia's version of London... rains more there, lots of culture, arts etc. However there seems to be a lot more gang crime in Melbourne than in Brisbane.
Melbourne is more crowded than Brisbane. However, there are more jobs in Melbourne than there are in Brisbane.
I'd say if you are more into the metropolitan lifestyle, then I'd say go see Melbourne. If you are into the outdoors or like the surfer lifestyle, then visit Brisbane.

Brisbane has warm wet summers and mild to warm dry winters. Melbourne has hot dry summers and cool to cold wet winters. Both cities have their charms and Melbourne is four times the size of Brisbane with a lot more of everything. But Melbourne has cool to cold wet winters. I like it a bit warmer.

I live in Brisbane the wheather is hot and humid in summer and winter is mild but we are in a serious drought right now and our dam levels are very low So check Melbourne out.

no person in Australia might guess with you that for the period of Melbourne you will get a tan . all people will agree, Brissy is the placement for that. Melbourne expenses extra only as you gotta pay a hefty electric powered bill on your sunlamp. yet, on the sturdy area, umbrellas are relatively low-priced as such assorted are offered there. Lived in both places. i think melboure is much better, it has a lot more culture and it is a lot easier to get work there, its very hard to get work in brisbane and it is far to hot and humid in summer. but if you are open to were you want to live in oz go to sydney, it has everything, one of the best cities ever.
