You did overdose and maybe that's why you had those symptoms. Also many strong painkillers have to be taken with food, so if you didn't eat that might account for your bad stomach. Either way, your body has given you a clear warning not to do it again.

Because cocodamol is a acetaminophen and opiate combo, side effects are: nausea, flushing, dizziness, drowsniness, mood changes, consitpation, etc. If you're feeling better today, then I would not worry, but if the side effects don't go away, then I would say you are sensitive to the drug and to see a doctor. If you took more than the recommended dosage, then that would explain why your symptoms were intense. Opiates can make you feel really wierd. People buy them to feel that way on purpose! Can you imagine?

Glad you are feeling better. Drink plenty of water!

It sounds like it was mostly side effects from the cocodamol, which include fainting, blackouts, nausea, vomiting, confusion, and drowsiness. But, you're only supposed to take 2 cocodamol (Tylenol 3 in the US) at a time, and never supposed to take other medications containing paracetamol with it. Since cocodamol contains paracetamol, you slightly overdosed, along with your previous dose, and contributed to heavier side effects.

You did take too much paracetamol in too short a space of time, however 4 paracetamol equivalents ( Co-codamol = paracetamol 500mgs + codeine 8 or 30mgs) is unlikely to have made you unwell.

The likely candidate is the codeine, which is a weak opiate and can upset people in the way you describe, even in very small doses.

I NEVER prescribe Co-codamol, though it is probably the most commonly used pain killer in UK at present. Lord knows why? I describe it as paracetamol with complications! It is only 5% more potent than paracetamol, but produces constipation, headache and dizziness, abdominal pain AND is significantly addictive.
I have for 15 years believed that the risk benefit ratio of this drug did not justify its existence, much less its mass prescribing.

An overdose. In general, when it comes to pain killers, u have to allow at least 4 hours between doses . Also, when the pain is too much, u can take a paracetamol medication, then if the pain is too severe, take another form of pain killer medication like Iboprufen instead of taking the same substance. This way, u will have 2 different medications working on your pain instead of one with no fear of an overdose. You must; however, be very careful with all sorts of medications and its best to resort to natural ways instead, if you can help it. Good luck.
