yesterday, my parakeet slept almost all day. i didn't realize that until night, because i had class in th morning. i called my pet shop, and they told me to call the vet in the morning. I did, and it turns out that the doctor was not available when i could bring the parakeet in, and it would close before I get off work. I couldn't call off work on a one-day notice. after work, i observed her a bit, she seemed to get better, and was a lil more active. she was still sleeping a lot, and i was getting really worried. i decided to take her back to the petstore to see if there was anything I could get for her, coz they have avian specialists there, maybe they had meds for conditions like this. on the way to the pet store, she passed away. the people at the store acted like it was nothing. i can't sleep. i keep thinking of my kairi. also, i had another parakeet (its completely fine). how does it feel with its friend being gone?

The very best thing to do is get another bird before the otherone can grieve itself to death. This has happened. With both my Cockatiels and Parakeets. Try to get the same color and sex of bird you had. But you need to do this as soon as you can. Say a prayer for the one that passed. Sounds like that was your baby.

I hope you give it gravel to aid in digestion. It was evidently a sick little bird. The other one might be lonely, they usually live about 15 years. But all of them are different. I have one by itself, and it has a toy that it plays with constantly. I hate it when I lose a bird. Parakeets are quite hardy. Don't think about it too much, just be glad that you took care of it, teflon pans or oven cleaner in the house will often be toxic to birds, alot of people don't realize this.

well i know how you feel. i couldn't sleep and cried for nights when my very first lovebird died. my advice is try not to remind your other parakeet about the first one for it might actually die quite soon - it happened to my birds. take care of the other bird and give even more love because who knows when the same might happen.
