it would get infected, all gross & puss-e & if the dog can scratch it, it will become a gnarly oozing bloody abcess.

Or it will get a little infected & the dogs tissue will eventually push it out. Kinda like when we get a splinter and don't remove it.

One sign of lyme's disease is stiff joints. If he shows any limping or soreness, take him to the vet. It's not life threatening unless left untreated. However, sometimes they will not show symptoms. The next time he's scheduled for a regular check up, ask the vet to do a "snap" test. This checks for lyme's, heartworm and erlichia (another tick disease). I agree that deer ticks are smaller. Some are so small they cannot be easily seen. If you live in the woods, I would definitely use Frontline Plus or Advantage, or if you don't like the idea of putting pesticides on your pet, you can do some research for alternate ideas.

Pet stores sell a little white plastic spoon for very little money about 2.5 inches long with a tiny open groove on the end that is so very excellent for pulling out ticks (even just the heads can usually be pulled with it if you messed it up by trying to use something else). The trick is not to lift up but to get the tick into the groove & then push along the line of the body. Even if you pull up it usually works.

If you remove a tick and accidentally leave the mouth parts still attached, it usually results in an infection - a big abscess can form. This is why we request that people do not try to remove them themselves, but let a vet do it. Or better yet, to use Frontline so the tick drops off.

Ticks carry lyme disease.

The remainder of the tick would become infected.

The ticks poison would continue to take affect on the victim.

As far as I know, it cant kill you that quick. But yes they can breed inside you and give you lyme disease.

Its not good.
