all those "diets" are a rip off.
diet is a way of life not a sprint.
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter your stats and it will tell you how many calories a day you need to maintain your weight. take 300-400calories off that number and that's how much you need to lose weight.
eat 5-6 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones.
5-8 servings of fruit and vegetables a day.
8 glasses of water a day.
4-6 times a week cardio work out for 30-50min plus light weight training.
no junk food, no sodas, no white flour (white bread, pasta, cookies, cakes etc)

The diet shakes work, for awhile. They do not provide the full amount of nutrition that you require to maintain a healthy "diet" on them. they are for just that, a limited time consumption to reduce weight.
Having one or 2 a day instead of a meal would be fine for a short period of time. Adding fruit as a regular snack instead of less healthy options is always a great choice, but vary up what you eat. Also, too much citric acid from some fruits can cause stomach issues and enamel wear on you teeth.
Try to eat a well-rounded diet from the food groups and watch your proportion sizes...it'll give you the same results without denying your body the nutrients it needs!

I never have seen a successful person with the shakes although you get some great vit, mins that way.
Fruit, salads, fish, rice, water I have seen work.
I have also noticed that different people respond to different diets and excercise.
This seems to involve body types that retain,a. water b. salt
or processing sugar / carbs.
