The secret to weight loss is different for everyone.

Drinking water is a good start. Also talk with your doctor. Many hospitals now offer programs for weight loss that is built upon total body health. It is more than just starving yourself and excerising like you are in boot camp. Your total situation is assessed and then you are given a plan based upon that. Its alot more one on one and less pressure then todays Curves, LA Weight Loss, and what not. They are geared on selling you their horrible tasting food and less about what is really important.

Good Luck!

The best way to lose weight is to rid your diet of sugars (which cause weight gain, or the body to store fat). Increase dietry proteins (meats, chicken, eggs) and good nature made fats like butter, extra virgin olive oil, virgin coconut oil, fish oils, flaxseed oil etc.

They are the healthy fats/oils, which allow the body to drop weight because it's getting what it needs. They also help nutrient intake. vegetables are of course great also, but watch for the potatoes etc, as they are high in natural sugars (carbs). You "may' be ok on some, just keep it limited.

The proteins and fats serve to provide your body with what it needs and the body can then begin to drop the weight. It is hard at first because most of us have an addiction to sugar, which also increases our appetite and is basically empty calories.

The proteins and fats serve to heal tissue, and far from causing weight gain, usually do the opposite.

Sugars are the real baddies, so are gluten/grains/breads. They will help you gain weight like you would not believe. Go easy on the fruit also. Try and keep sugar (even natural sugar) to a minimum.

you will crave it at first and it will not be easy but if you can hang in there, the cravings will diminish and you should start seeing results.

Walking is probably the best exercise and rebounding also. They are easy and gentle and effective. Anything to strengthen muscles can be done with a few push ups, sit ups etc.

The basic answer has always been to increase your exercise and decrease your calories.

I was on a low fat diet, with moderate exercise and hit a plateau where I wasn't losing any more weight. I decided to cut back on sugar and starchy carbs (white bread, potatoes, white rice, etc.) and found I am losing slowly but steadily. I have lost 15 pounds in 4 months. Losing slowly helps to keep the weight off. Now I am trying to get out walking more often to continue the weight loss. I am also eating more complex carbohydrates, such as whole wheat bread, brown rice, and shredded wheat cereal.
I like Splenda for a non-calorie sweetener. It doesn't have that unpleasant aftertaste. I check labels and try to avoid all "high fructose corn syrup." Doctors say it may be the cause of many of our nation's health problems. I also stay away from anything that says "hydrogenated"-like most margarines.

I lost 105 pounds in 6 months. Here is how I did it.
1. Every morning get up and walk for 45 minutes. You can start with less time, but you want to get up to 45 minutes, and it must be fast walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism.
2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed).
3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water.

It will work, once you get into a routine, you will get hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me.

Also start counting your calories. Write them down. You would be amazed as to how much more aware you are of your caloric intake, if you actually write it down. We recently discovered a site that offers a great program that counts calories, as well as keeps track of everything. It allows multiple users, so everyone in the family can keep track. They offer a free 7 day trial, and so far I am very impressed with the product. Try the 7 days and see. It allows you to add the exercise that you do during the day, which increases the amount of calories you can take in. Very Cool!!

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter your stats and it will tell you how many calories a day you need to maintain your weight. take 300-400calories off that number and that's how much you need to lose weight.
eat 5-6 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones.
5-8 servings of fruit and vegetables a day.
8 glasses of water a day.
4-6 times a week cardio work out for 30-50min plus light weight training.
no junk food, no sodas, no white flour (white bread, pasta, cookies, cakes etc)

try the low carb or minimal carb diets. It worked for me. I actually followed Atkins for about 1 year and lost 30 lbs (210lbs down to 180lbs). I have been as low as 165 but 180-185 is my stable weight now. I now eat anything I want but in limitation.

Just have a steady diet of healthy foods. Be consistant in a well-balanced diet and get at least 30 minutes of good exercise a day. You should see improvements within a week or two.

Proper diet and exercise. Don't starve and don't take supplements. Supplements DO NOT WORK!
